Two moons tonight > Georgia

In case someone has not heard, tonight at 12:30+/-, Mars will be the closest it has been to Earth in quite some time (270 years or something), so it suppsoed to appear that there are two moons up there tonight.

Hopefully it'll be clear.

I saw it on Yahoo homepage a couple weeks ago. It seemed logical. I'll have to check in to it. Apparently it's supposed to be visible with the naked eye (as opposed to an eye in a leoprd print thong)

In a typical arfcom manner, I predict that whoever labors tonight on child-making activities should be graciously awarded with a son.

I hope my 80x is big enough to see the two moons tonight. If it doens't rain.

Supposedly, mars is supposed to look like an 8" disk. On Dec. 19, it's to look like a 15" disk (no, not 15" dick.)

Hoax: Mars As Big As Moon This Week

Romours circulating the Internet at the moment reporting that "Mars Will be As Big As The Moon This Week Aug 27" and 'Mars Will Come Closer To Earth Than In Recorded History" are a hoax although Mar is indeed travelling closer to the earth by 40 kilometres in less than 10 to 20 seconds. Experts have no quarrel on the claim that the planet will be more spectacular than usual this month although they say the email is a hoax. They say Mars will indeed be brighter until October when it will no longer be in opposition to the Earth. This event happens every time Mars, The Earth and The Sun line up, which occurs every two to three years.

Oh well, it's cloudy anyway. I'll sleep better knowing the Martians aren't a lot closer . We have enough alien problems on this planet as it is.

There is a full lunar eclipse tonight though. About 5 am the moon will turn blood red.
