Hi all,

I have a few parts kits that need to be sand blasted before I build them out and molly coat them. Does anyone have any recommendations for a resource in the Lawrenceville area for that sort of thing? Thanks.

Please do not use sand, get some aluminum oxide.

Even with some ventilation the sand can do really nasty things to your lungs, and possibly kill you.

Well that would suck.

I was actually using "sand blasting" as a general term but thanks for the warning just the same. Any safety related information is always welcome.

What ever you use wear a dust mask and have a shop vac hooked up to your cabinet to help reduce the fine particles.  Some suggest that aluminum oxides and fumes may cause alzheimers, just take the proper safty precautions, you shouldn't be breathing it whatever you use.

I have had good luck just using sand outside. The sand is cheap at a local paint shop, and I can blast a whole AK with 1/2 bag.

Yea, bodydropper I use a cabinet to and don't wear a mask either, I also have a shopvac attached to it like you do, but I don't know what someone else would do so....  I would advise a dust mask.  A buddy at work said he never noticed his shopvac hose pop off of his cabinet and he was so intent on getting the rust off of his car parts, that he never realized the rest of his garage was a huge cloud of dust LOL.  His wife didn't think it was as funny as I did.
