Ok, how do I destroy these little fuckers?  I had a fireant hill that was right next to my driveway, approx 4 inches high, and 18 inches across.  I made it a point to run over it in the stang every time I came in and out of the driveway.  now they have moved the hill about 2 feet twoards the inside of the yard.  No chance of running over it now, unless I want to take out my mailbox.

I want these little red fuckers gone almost as bad as I want the illegals gone.

An old timer once said to take a long steel rod, and push it down into the center of the nest as far as you can and then pour gas into the hole, but that was before amdro was invented.  I think I'd use amdro.  On the other hand, its in your driveway right, so the best thing to do would be to put a 2 lb canister (maybe 4 lb if it goes deep)  of tannerite on the center of the mound and shoot it from your porch.

Try this, my father in law swears by it, you have to have 2 or more ant mounds though.

Take a shovel and bucket, take a large scoop from 1st mound and place in bucket. Take a scoop from the 2nd mound and place that scoop into mound #1 and the scoop you took from #1, place it into mound #2. What you are doing is introducing enemy ants into another colony and they will fight til the death. What you are wanting them to do is kill each other and most important, kill the queen.

By doing this way, you don't introduce chemicals or gas into your yard.

But me, I Amdro the hell out them and follow up with gas and a match.

+1, that stuff kicks ant ASS!!!

eta: don't disturb the next when you put that stuff on.  Just shake it around the perimeter of the next.

Amdro takes too long, Ortho Orthene, smells like shit but kills a mound of ants overnight.

Amdro: encircle the mound with the pellets then poke a hole in the middle of the mound, quickly poor a tablespoon of pellets directly into the hole and walk away.

Most ants are dead in hours - works every time

Amdro works well.  When the mounds first form is the best time to get 'em.  Sprinkle some on top of each mound on a dry day and then forget 'em.

Gas works good too.  Pour about a cup into the mound and walk away.  As a kid it was more fun to light the gas and then stir up the flaming mound, but this doesn't kill the heart of the ant mound.  Let the gas soak in and the fumes will kill the Queen.

I want to say that  I read somewhere that if you have fireants near your house, you may also have termites in your house, Because fireants eat termites......I like to pee on ant hills.....

Amdro did not do squat for me, but I had MANY Ant hills in my yard.

About 2 years ago I treated my entire yard with Over-n-Out in the spring (March or April) and I've not had a problem since.

Hope that helps!

Dude try the super cheap and quick way.  GRITS. Go and buy a bag of grits and dump it on the mound. The ants come out and eat it and when they do it swells up in them and they explode.   The ultimate in yard activities. Just keep pouring the grits to them. Its a hell of alot cheaper than any ant poison.

I've heard this before too but have never tried it.

BTW, don't give 'em your ham and biscuits too.  You have to draw the line somewhere.
