Knowing larry, it was probably worded a little different than that. But that guy lived for this site. Even had an arfcom licencse plate. Any chance of him gettin back on? |
He got banned for that? IN GD NO LESS? I feel a boycott coming on...thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard. He even said in a very polite manner. Who banned him? They must have had an underlying issue with him. |

Wow...I don't get it. All he did was indirectly call "BS" on another fellas comment. So...if he had written "your comment is inaccurate and I believe you should reevaluate it" he would still be here. I see MUCHHH worse stuff from the other "known" folks on the site. Aimless must been havin' a bad day. JK |

From talking to him, it sounded like someone had it in for him and was just waiting in the weeds for the slightest excuse to bump him off. My take on him from talking at the Madison Range this weekend and watching him interact with others was that he is a nice, unselfish guy who really loves his weapons(and boy, does he have some nice ones). He was letting folks fire his .50 all day, and alot of his other stuff as well. He offered my son a shot with the .50, but my son declined. A few more older, nicer guys is exactly what sites like this need to keep around to temper the more hot-headed youngsters. Just my .02 |

Larry is very opinionated. Heck, most of us here are. He also pulls no punches in what he says to you. I'll give him credit though. A lot of guys "talk" differently on the keyboard than when face to face. With Larry what you see is what you get in person and behind the computer screen. He'll jump right in your face and disagree with you, but he means no harm by it. That's just him. He definately brought interesting character to the board and I for one will miss him. He's a good guy IMHO. Mark |

I'll agree that Larry probably could have been banned for some of the things he's said in the past, but not for that. It was really civil. It was civil both subjectively and objectively. (It was civil for Larry and if anyone else said it it would still be civil). LarryG not 36, you'll be missed. (RIP) |

What's next? ....no unpleasant thoughts about each other while we're debating? I thought this place was our refuge from political correctness and over-sensitivity. Sounds like some folks just need to get thicker skinned. Larry's response was critical but did not cross the lines of decorum. I'm like some of you other guys. IMHO, there has to be more to the story. Hella banning Larry is

Although I disagreed with him on many things (like his worship of all things Armalite) he is a decent and opinionated guy who let me try out a couple of his rifles. He definately isn't a case of hiding behind a keyboard, the couple of times I met him he was just as blunt to your face. |
Yeah. One time Larry and I were at a local range (Wilson Shoals) and this asshat just starts walking down the center of the hot range to put up targets. Everyone immediately went cold and just stared at the idiot. What breaks the silence? Larry screams out, "Hey your idiot. That's a good way to get yourself killed!" The guy just looked like  .Priceless.  (Yeah, and I got your PING right here, boy.  )

I want to say right off the bat that I don't know Larry but if he was banned for the comments posted. I am sorry but I don't get it. Someone might want to give us a little more information on this situation. I would like to have a little more info because I now have a real sour taste in my mouth about this. Chok |

Mike, you worry me sometimes. What I'm afraid of are the comments in the GD thread about this and elsewhere that this is "Ed Sr.s home we're all just guests if he doesn't like your hair color he can fire you" (Well not quite that bad but you get the idea.) Yes this is a privately owned and operated website. We don't have first amendment protections, but as some point fifteen million members perhaps, it becomes a little more then just some guys blog. We have a vested interest here.  Great way to start page 2. |

I just wanted to say that I also have met LARRYG, in person, we got together for the flag raising at IWO JIMA. Hes a grreat guy, an asshole, in your face oppinionated. But he has the one quality thats VERY hard to find in people these days. Hes REAL, Hes gonna tell you how he feels and not sugar coat it. B*Ut the biggest thing that makes me standup for him. Hes gonna say the same things behing your back that hes gonna say dricetly to your face. See my new sigline. The free larry comapaign has begun! |
Markm was banned a couple of weeks ago. LarryG and I share an interest in Garands and we've exchanged IMs several times in the M1 forum. I am also interested in knowing why Aimless banned him, but no one is saying. If it was the thread in question that did it, I am confident other staff members will get involved and correct this injustice. |
actually no.... I enjoy reading markm posts. He livens up the place and I think he does it for fun not malic. I see that ARFCOM is in it's conservative cycle right now and a pretty extreme one at that. Either it'll self correct or this place will go down the PC shit hole. I hope it corrects itself and rights the wrongs. If not then another site will start up and compete directly with arfcom. Eventually that site will either split the community or die. It's all in how it's run. Crying shame really. Moderators need to step back and take a breather. Like everything else they get burned out just like any other job. Fresh blood is always a good thing. |

I understand Larry's account lock has more to do with what was said behind the scnes in e-mail with staff than with what was in that last post of his. I understand things might be worked out behind the scenes as well. It kind of sound like Larry could still be allowed back on if he wants. Mark |

Honest, I was there with them. no really. We had a get together last February for the anniversary of the flag raising. It was my second time to meet and talk to Larry, not a bad fellow for an old Navy fart. Like everyone else has said he was going to tell you the truth as he saw it, whether you want to hear it or not. I too am glad things got worked out. Chris |
