In optics you truly get what you pay for. What do you want to use it on?

I'd strongly advise not wasting money on these.

well, buy from Sportsmansguide and try out for yourself.  I ended up sending back mine due to poor lens quality. YMMV.

Guess I'm going to be the "different one" here but I love mine.  Taken its on my DPMS .22
but its fine for what its used for.  Glass is "ok".  Its not a night force or anything close but for a .22 you should like it.  Its possible I got lucky since I bought mine when they first came out but I haven't had any problems with it what so ever.

If you must get one get a fixed power so you have less moving parts that can go south. I have not looked at the low end optics in years, but I have two tasco's on two different 10/22's and both have held up well. One is a fixed 4x the over a variable 6-20x target scope. Glass is poor on the variable but decent on the 4x fixed.

I have a fixed on my 10/22 and it functions excellent in that application.
I have a SWAT series 6-24x44 on order and am going to try it on my .308 10FP.  I am communicating directly with the local distributor and can send it back if it does not perform.   I talked to a rep at the factory and they said that this is a good representative of their higher end scopes.  They are not trying to compete with a Nikon Monarch or a VX-III, but they claim to be competitive for the price.

I can't argue with any here that have replied that you get what you pay for.

The barskas I've seen can't compete with my favorite leupold or even some of my really old bushnells.

I always try to buy the best I can afford but if I wanted to put a scope on my beat to heck 30/30 I sure wouldn't put one on that was worth twice as much as the rifle. If I needed a decent scope and couldn't afford the "best" I wouldn't hesitate to put a barska on any deer rifle I own.

I remember when tascos were the object of disdain and now some people really search out the old Japanese glass.

Not everyone has the $$$ available when the "need" arises.

I'm thinking about putting one on my never ending project rifle I refuse to give up on, my Cetme.

I havn't decided what to put on the flat top I bought from Joe Kiser yet.
