Does anyone in the GA crew us Dish Networks high speed for their internet connection?  Is it any good?

I don't have any other option other than dial up, a Sprint Air Card didn't work at my place.

Any suggestions anyone?

I have heard ok stuff about the dish internet...compared to dial-up.

Have you checked other cellular providers? The 3G or G3 stuff is pretty darned fast, the catch is finding the provider with the best coverage...Verison is who our company is going with. Or course, we also use thier cell phones. Cingular has crap coverage in my area, but great coverage on the interstates. Verison has great coverage at the house and highways.

Hope this helps.

I don't have Dish Highspeed but I do have Wildblue. Both are forms of satellite internet. If Dish Highspeed is anything like Wildblue,it's a POS. Mine goes out A LOT. I'm SOL when there is bad weather. There is also a good bit of lag. The lag is mainly due to the fact that it takes a second or two for the info to reach the satellites or something like that,so satellite internet would not be a good choice for some online games, especially first person shooters. If it wasn't for the damn 24 month contract I had to sign to get Wildblue,I would have got rid of Wildblue a long time ago. But if you don't have to sign a contract, the packages are priced fair, and that's all you can get,by all means go for it.

Thanks for the info guys.

Wildblue is who Dish Network uses, so I'll check into the air cards more.

Have a good one!

+1 for the mobile broadband cards.  I have Verizon for work and the have used Sprint's.  Both are about as fast as basic DSL.

check out evdo-forums.com for info about sprint and verizon. i have verizon evdo for my laptop and it stays connected just about everywhere in my car.

rev a due out soon. rev a cards already available.

check out dsl reports for speeds available on evdo rev-0 and evdo rev-a.

sats have big lag. 1 second or thereabouts. but good speeds sometimes. you cant play games or run voip on sats. sats are sorta like the last resort if you cant get cable, dsl or evdo.
