I got a new Hensoldt scope and I am having trouble fitting the Stanag mount on my rifle (SAR-8, yes the greek one).  At the rear of the mount there is a plastic "nose" that is supposed to butt up against the sight cylinder and fit in a slight channel forward of the sight clyinder.  Problem is it does not fit.  Has anybody else encountered this?  How di you remedy it?

Take the plastic tab off. It isn't necessary for the stanag mount to stay tight. It might be tight locking the mount down for the first time, but don't file the tabs. It'll lock on and will just be nice and tight later on.

The tab is just in there with two little round tabs, so it pulls straight out. It might have been glued in place, but should come off easily enough.

I kept my little tab, but have long since sold my 1st and 2nd SAR8.

IMO, that is the finest QD scope mount ever made.

Thanks Kletz, I got to thinking about it while eating dinner and figured I could just take it off.

yes, take the plastic thing off. and if you still have trouble, turn the mount upside down and notice two round contact areas which will ride directly on top of the reciever when mount is positioned on the gun.  they are spring loaded and may have become frozen.  solution- saturate with wd 40 to unstick and press down on them to make sure they move with a hard object.  should give a little.  then crank it on there and sight in.
