Hello Everyone, DTaylor652 and I have teamed up to bring you the weekly "Help Save Another Puppy" thread. DTaylor has searched all of the online adoption listings to bring you the best dogs that he could find, that are going to be killed this week. I stress the "killed this week" part because this is about saving the animals, so we want you to understand that if you see a dog that you want, please don't wait, because they will be gone! Here are dogs that will be killed this week 1. Chocolate Lab in Carrol County 2. Deceased Also, DTaylor is partial to Boxers and Cocker Spaniels, so if you are looking for one of those click here: http://www.boxertown.com/ http://www.rockinprescue.org/ http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/csrg.html Thank you for helping these animals! I got my "doggy" ( black lab + shepherd mix)from Gwinnett's animal shelter for the same reason. She is very nice dog and adapted well here in WA. Only interesting part is that her once all-black fur is not getting brownish as if it was being bleached. Maybe because she loves laying down and sunbathing. Anyways... the Gwinnett's folks have this Sunday "adoption day" in PetsMart where you can adopt a dog or cat. They usually select the dogs that are more "family oriented" and, at least in my case, did an excellent job. My dog is a very nice creature that loves being with us, and vice-versa. So I highly recommend adopting a dog if you can. |

Any details on that chocolate lab? Is it still available? Gender, age, temperament? I have a male lab who is less than a year old, as well as 2 small children. I'd love to have another dog for our puppy to play with, but I have to know if the dog would be a suitable family pet. Edit: I saw the link after I posted. I'll call the shelter to see if she is a good family pet. It'll have to wait until tomorrow when they open. I'll report as soon as I find out. |
Good man! I am sure your efforts will pay off with much reward! |
I called the Carroll County Animal Shelter about her today. She sounds like a good pet for us. They did inform me that the pets they list as "urgent" for adoption are not actually going to be put down. They have an adoption area, and the pets they list on petfinder stay there until someone takes them. Not all shelters are that way (obviously), but this one is. We're going out Thursday to visit her if no one else takes her. I was willing to drive out today if need be, but since she isn't really in danger, I can wait for my husband to be home to go with me. We both want to meet her to make the call. |
We need pics to makie a better call on this matter.....Of the dog...Pics of the dog. If not I have a Hound/husky mix that needs a good home...hes less than a year old great temperment. An outside dog, but still young enough to be taught to do the inside thing. has one brown and one blue eye....Goes to the pound this weekend...My wife got him telling me he was a husky....Like I said hes a good dog. Just poops too much and we dont have time to train him... |
You, Sir.......should not own any animal! Accountant |
I'm now going to bite my tounge.... |
Congratulations, you are now the lowest bottom feeder in the GA Hometown Forum. And if you care to discuss this face to face, you know I'm willing. |

Bad joke. And this is from someone who has had to put down aggressive stray dogs. I hunt deer down in Taylor County. Most of the people down there let their dogs run loose. I bet there aren't two "fixed" dogs in the whole damn county. (Sorry to the guys in Taylor. I'm sure it really isn't that way in the whole county, but we sure see a LOT of strays around our hunting club.) When the puppies are born they get stuffed in a cardboard box and driven a few miles down the road where they are dumped. I blame the people who don't get their animals fixed for the animal population issues. If you don't want your dogs to breed, get them fixed. I've seen first hand dogs packing up and becoming very aggressive. I rescued my dog, Taylor, from the woods. She was only about six-weeks old when she found me. She was covered in ticks, had worms and fleas. Bad shape. Sorry for the rambling. This just struck a nerve. Mark |
Yep, definately in bad taste. If he said a ferral dog shoot that would be different. I kill wild dogs hunting all the time also. They chase the deer and haven't had the proper human socialization and need to be put down. I also shoot Yotes on sight too. It's really sad the number of people who buy a cute little puppy, then the puppy grows up and isn't so cute anymore then they get rid of the dog, ect.... (same people who's children run wild and eventually end up in prison). |

wow guys.......this is a JOKE........remember this is the freaking INTERNET.... I guess I need to give some type of disclaimer before I post a "sick" joke. But now that this can-o-worms is open. What would be the difference in putting an animal down at the pound or just shooting it? How I really feel: I do not believe in shooting something just to be killing. When I kill something it is to A) eat B) a nuisance pest that causes damage to personal property like killing livestock, flooding land, eating household pets or damage to your house/truck (coyote, beavers, rats, opossums, crows, raccoons.........and yes dogs too). I am a dog lover (just NOT cats) have had a dog all of my life until I built my new house last year and do not have an adequate place for her to stay yet, I refuse to let her sit in a cage all day, put her in a 6' square fence/lot or put her on a chain - THAT my friends is not humane. So take you left hand out of your pocket and reach around to your ass and pull your panties out of it. I think y'all took this WAY too seriously. ![]() I am not wearing any underwear, so you can flame away now |
I assume you are refering to "762bodydroper"?? |
Alan, I could care less about what someone calls me on the web, this is somewhere I go when I have spare time at work.......Call me what you wish, your not gonna hurt my feelings.
Oh please Alan, you are wanting to threaten me over a joke on the web............ |
-------------------> Not a threat. People hide behind their keyboards, typing foolish crap all the time. I do not 'hide', so if you have issues with my opinion, you know where to find me. I stand behind what I write, and your lame explanation of your sense of humor does not pass the logic test. |
To a degree yes, but it was more of a general statement about the people not responsible enough to own dogs that cause the problems with so many dogs ending up in the pound. Bookhound touched on another part of it. |
You know where/how to find me as well, do so if that makes you happy. Guess we have something in common, I do not hide behind my keyboard either. I did not give an explanation for my humor, hope you did not take it that way, I do not make excuses for myself. Foolish is wasting my time bickering with you on the web about something so stupid. |
Agreed. caver, Allen wasn't threatening you. I know because I talked to him about it and I wouldn't tollerate anyone making any threats in here. It seems some of us don't share your sense of humor when it comes to killing of animals. Nothing more, nothing less. If it makes you feel better, Allen was the first guy who admonished me for killing a ferral (and VERY aggressive - it bit my father-in-law) dog last year while deer hunting. I felt no remorse for dispatching it. It will bite no other hunters and will no reproduce. But I see a difference in killing a wild dog and advocating (even if joking) killing a dog with no home because some asshole was too lazy to "fix" their other animals or because some asshole got a dog to have as a pet, abused it and dropped it off at the shelter. Those things strike a bad nerve with those of us who REALLY love dogs. Sorry if I came accross as a dick earlier. (Caver, my earlier comments were NOT addressed to you. I hope you can understand that. Now, if we're talkin' cats... ![]() Just kidding about the cats! Peace all and good night. I'm home from the beach, where Taylor made her first trip with us. She LOVED every minute! I'll post pictures later. Now, everyone chill out and let's find a way to get these dogs a home! Peace all, Mark |

We decided to wait a bit before adopting a new dog. We need to get a playmate for our lab, but we want to wait until after he is neutered (it's scheduled for 2 weeks from now). Also, our vet advised us to go through the humane society rather than the shelter since we allready have one dog and 2 small kids. She said she would never tell anyone not to rescue a dog from the shelter, but that she would caution us about it. The humane society dogs are up to date on shots, fixed, on heartworm preventative, and you know what kind of temperament they have. Shelter dogs may have been abused or neglected, and dogs like that can be dangerous around small children. I'd love to rescue a dog from death row again, but I do think I need to wait until the boys are older. |
