No training requirement.

Make sure you take the correct amounts in the correct formats.  Cashier's check for the GBI, cash for the county.

Money order, whatever.  Here is the relevant info on fees in Cobb County.  Call your local Probate Court for info on your county's specifics.

First time applicants must bring the following items to the Probate Court:

• Current identification;

• A money order payable to the GEORGIA BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION in the amount of $24; and

• $23 in cash or check payable to the Cobb County Probate Court for the license, fingerprinting and mental health records check.

So according to packing.org, open carry is also permitted in GA, is this correct?

Despite whether it is a good idea or not, open carry is legal in Georgia.  I have carried openly while at the grocery store and while walking the dog in the neighborhood.  Whether you carry openly or concealed, watch out for the places defined as public gatherings.

Only with a valid Georgia firearms license.

[Edit: or on private land while hunting with the landowner's permission to be there.]

That's our carry license, either open or closed.  If you have a FL license, it's good here and you can open carry here with it.
