| to the Hotlanta area during the 1st week of Aug. to visit an old friend of mine, and was wondering what's to do and see. It's been about 4-5 years since I've been down that way. |

What do you like to do? We could all go shooting. Everyone who comes here goes to Stone Mountain, Coke Museum, Underground Atlanta, etc. Stone Mountain isn't bad, but you could not PAY me to go anywhere around the downtown area. That's just me though. I'd rather go to the Infantry Museum around Columbus. muddy went last year and realy enjoyed it. What kind of food do you like? |

Book is right, if you are in the area, the Infantry Museum at Ft. Benning is a must-see. I've taken 3 friends down to see it, including my girlfriend, and all have really enjoyed it. Just make sure you aren't packing. It's illegal to carry onto the base and the MP's are fairly humorless about stuff like that. Past that, I guess The Underground is worth checking out. Depending on when you'll be here exactly, it may be worth getting a 99x card and checking out one of the weekend free shows they are doing at The Underground around then. They have some fairly big name bands like Weezer, Garbage, The Stereophonics coming through on various weekends: www.99x.com/events/dtr05/ The rest really depends on what you're into. If you like bars, there are parts of Buckhead that are still worth checking out, esp. Moondogs, Hole In The Wall, or PeachTree Tavern. If you like the cheezy spring break feel, then no trip is complete without hitting Mako's. Most of the better club scene is in Midtown like 1150 or Compound, if you're into that. Ditto on Books suggestion of the Coke museum. Also, I think the Atlanta Aquarium is supposed to be open by then and it's supposed to be the largest in the country when it opens. There's really no shortage of places to eat and drink in ATL and that's where it really shines. It's not like NYC or other cities when it comes to having historical or tourist designated places to see, in my opinion. Shooting is also always an option. |

thanks for all the input guys. I've done the Buckhead and Virginia Highlands bar scene before back in the day when I was a little younger and under age . It's just been so long since I've been down that way. The Infantry Museum sounds fun and all, but I was kind of in the mood for balls to the wall big boy fun. See I'll be with out the family and able to let loose. Just as long as I don't get arrested ![]() Maybe I can help Taxman build his next fort
