| I got myself a new Rock River LAR 15 and looking to buy a set of quad rails. has anyone tried the Surefire Rails yet?? If so how are they? |
The Troy / Samson is a FF system, and the Surefire is not; comparing apples to oranges. The Troy / Samson forend does not retain the Delta ring assembly. The Surefire railed forend is a fantastic value in a rock solid part. |

Rabbit is correct. It does not retain the delta ring only the barrel nut and the Surefire does not FF. The delta ring has to be cut off if the FSP cannot be removed due to a pinned or permanent FH.That is more along the lines of what I meant. If you can remove all of that.....I'd definitely recommend the LaRue FF for a few dollars more. I've got a Surefire, two Daniel Defense forends, and a LaRue. I had a Troy and really liked it,but favored the DD and Larue more so I sold it. I've got the Surefire on an RRA with a faux permanent FH. To me it is no where near as solid as a FF but a good rail compromise if you can't go the FF route. You're welcome to check them out anytime and use my tools to change one out if you get one if you don't already have them. |
| OK seeing as I am new to dressing up an AR. With the SF rails do I keep my delta ring assembly and just put them in place of the old hand guards or do I have to remove them and install the Sure Fire? I do not do a lot of carbine work and was actually looking for the simplist route to add a light and maybe a few other gadgets. |

If you want to hang more than a light off that rail, I'm a big fan of FF tubes. Most FF tubes don't cost a lot more than the non-FF tubes. I am a huge LaRue and DD fan. I think the LaRue has some advantages over the DD tubes, but DD are also very nice. I have two of each. If you need any help installing anything, let me know. You're also more than welcome to check out my rail systems. |

My very first rail system was a DD 7.0. I love it. I’ve got a DD 7.0 on a M4gery. Attached to the rail is a TD vertical grip, KAC sling swivel and DD off-set light mount with a SureFire G2. The light mount puts the light at about the 4 o’clock (or maybe 4.5?) position. I’ve got a DD 9.5 FSP rail on another M4gery. I use a TD vertical grip and a First Samco light mount with a SureFire G2. Then I’ve got a LaRue 12.0 on another rifle and a LaRue 9.0 (mid-length) on a 16” barrel with a LaRue gas block. You’re more than welcome to check them all out. I like the locking key on the LaRue rails, but the DD rails are very high quality. You won’t go wrong with either. |
| Ok rails mounted and locktite applied. EO Tech and mount in route as we speak. I also have a ugggg what ya call it sling on it, oh yeaaaaaaaaa Mamba (thanks to the son). Sure Fire Light is next any suggestions. I am not looking for a huge light but something that will clamp to the rails and have a pressure switch, maybe momentary on and constant on capeability. |
