My Duluth Cop friend who sold me my Sig P229 9mm for just $550 (which I love) has made me another offer: a used Aimpoint in great condition for $225.

I saw the poll here where most preffered the Aimpoint over the Eotech. Something like 2 to 1. However, my friend told me that Eotech has now earned the coveted "NSN" stamp (just like my ACOG) which means military and special forces now endorse it.

So why do most of you like Aimpoint over the Eotech?

Should I get the Aimpoint?

I'm not one for dots or glass on my AR's, but once you try the Aimpoint you'll definetely see an advantage.  Give'em both a try, you'll see.

What model?  If its a M2 or ML2, then its a screaming good deal if its in working condition.

AIMPOINTS RULE!!!

It's more than likely a Comp M which is the older model, but still a very good sight.  As far as which is better, try 'em both.  You'll find you probably have a preference for one or the other.

I would probably pass  on it.  That price is not bad considering what he likely paid at the time but if you want the Aimpoint styple of site (tube setup with instant dial switch) you can probably get a CompML for about $300 and change if you really shop hard.  I think it's B&B guns up off of 400 that was giving out 10% off flyers a couple of show again because ZZXXYY got a CompM2 NIB off of them inlcuding tax for right at $395 I believe and it does run a bit more than the ML.

From what I understand the CompM's drink batteries.  I'd also encourage you to look a the OKO Reflex site.  It's in use with European police and militaries, has a better field of view than the Aimpoint, in my opinion, has an instant on dial switch unlike the EoTech and the optic along with steel protective cover can probably be had for about $225-$250.

Edited to correct that it was an M2 that ZZXXYY purchase before somebody has a heart attack.

$395 was too much. Eaglefirearms had the ML2 for $314 not long ago.

DevilBoy,

Relax, Dude!  It was a CompM2.  B&B seemed like good guys, I need to go over to see their store.

I must have missed the poll, but I much prefer Eotech over Aimpoint.

?  http://www.eaglefirearms.net/aimpoint.htm shows the CompM2 at $439.  Is there some secret handshake to get em at a lower price?  Or is a burnt offering to your favorite demon required?

That is the MSRP price. You have to "add to cart" to see the sale price.
Burnt offerings are only good on the "New Moon".

Eagel still has the great prices on the ML2/M2 Aimpoints.  Like s0ulzer0 said, you have to add it to your basket to see the REAL price.  Get 'em while you can.

Answering the original question, I've had both and my personal prefference is for the Aimpoint.  The EOTech reminds me of a "race gun" scope.   Nothing to protect the glass and the reticle is too busy.  Batteries don't last as long.
