| New member here with a few qestions. We are thinking about moving to Blue Ridge or near by and would like to know about the job market. My wife works in the opthalmalogy field and I am a steel drafter/detailer. She would stay in her field but I would like to get into some type of outside work (camping/backpacking, etc.) 14 years has been long enough for me. Currently we live in south Georgia, both 34, own our house, no kids, no cc debt., no car payment, just ready for a change. Does anyone here live or work around there? The area seems to be a great place for living and doing outdoor type things. Please post any info. that you may have and I will check back later because we will be away from the computer for a few days. Thanks for any help. |

I go to Blue Ridge just about every weekend... including in about 2 hours. The job market up there sucks but it is a booming town. Ellijay would have more jobs. There isn't much in Blue Ridge, a few restaurants, artsy type places downtown and a few grocery stores but good luck. |

Since the textile industry started to go outside of the USA, Blue Ridge has struggled to keep any kind of job market at all. It is a nice place to spend your weekends, but you will have to drive to work anywhere. You can find work in Canton or Kennesaw and the drive will be under an hour to work. |
