On our way home from SC, to NY, today my girlfriend got pulled over for an 83 in 65 just outside Statesville. Right now the court date is the second week of July. Anybody have advice for a lawyer who won't cost an arm and a leg since coming back in the middle of the week would mean 2 or 3 days off work?

I don't practice in Iredell County, but generally in Mecklenburg County traffic tickets go from $150-350 depending on the county/charge(s)/attorney. You'll also have to pay court costs, which usually run between $200-300.  You should get some mailers from attorneys that cover that county.

Wait for the letters.  You will be bombarded with offers for an improper equipment

Did you end up getting offers in the mail?

What did they reduce it to?

Yea, we ended up with 7 or so offers. Cheapest was $50, I think all were under $100.

My gf told me what they dropped it to, I don't recall exactly what it was right now.

Improper equipment is a fairly common one since it's not a moving violation.

Glad it work out for a one time cost instead of an annual increase.

That sounds right.

You paid your road tax no different than NYS, but cheapier.

Don't worry, we'll be headed back south eventually. NY sucks.
