Hmm...NO.

You will see Magpul, Stag, Bushmaster etc., opening up shop in SC.

Friend of mine said he would move his manufacturing facility from Michigan to SC if it goes through.

For the millionth time federal law supercedes state law. This will just get unknowing people in trouble, arrested, jailed. Tell Mr federal officer (ice, dnr, marshal, batfe, ect) that state law says you can do such and such as he charges you federally. By the way your outdoor public ranges are on federal land. Feel free to break federal law on federal land because a state law says so. Send me you inmate number so ar15 home town can write you.

That doesn't seem to stop those in WA and CO from smoking weed. It is still illegal to do so according to the feds.

yes and no.  Federal law does trump state according to the Supremacy clause, but the clause in it's entirety also reads that any Federal law cannot be in contradiction to the constitution. So until they shred the constitution and rewrite that puppy, it is still king.

THE SUPREMACY CLAUSE
Article. VI.
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

What's the federal penalty for possession of marijuana? Compare that to possession of an unregistered SBR and get back to me.

I agree with UrbancommandoX, this is effectively feel good legislation. No one's going to be the guinea pig and it won't stop the ATF from knocking down your door when you start machining and selling LLs and RDIAS left and right.

Would you like to know why? Most people get high in their dorm or home and don't leave the house with drugs. Most are personal users or grow their own. Now what can you do with a gun you can't leave the house with? Stroke it and warheads Rambo. Where do feds hang out? Shooting ranges, gun clubs, ect. You think a gun club won't ask for your forms? How about an indoor range in a gunshop? They don't want to loose there federal fire arms license because they let someone in with out proper paperwork. Now if like post smokers you never leave the couch go heals and build yourself a short barreled machine gun mantel piece. But be prepared for an I told you so when arrested. Sure you can smoke weed infront of local le there but wait till the feds come into work that day and watch what happens. There is always task forces in le departments for programs making arrests to have all the basses covered. So smoke a joint on the couch sku your unregistered whatever but don't leave the house.

Therein lies the problem, it's been repeatedly ruled that the feds can regulate firearms via the commerce clause. Simply saying "This gun will not leave SC." doesn't stop it from happening. It's a truth that the firearm business is interstate commerce at this point and regulation has been ruled constitutional.

The problem (I believe) is the interpretation of "regulate". I don't believe that to "regulate" something means they're able to ban it, which is why we have NFA to begin with (they could levy a hefty tax, but not outright ban), however that went to shit with the Hughes amendment which was shady shit and needs to be stricken and the fuckers that allowed it hung.

And to add to my other post. This says exemption from federal law. How many have looked to see about there county and cities laws regarding these things. Meaning even of this passes tour local sheriff deputies and police will arrest you. I believe Charleston county already has a short barrel shot gun or rifleaw on the books.

ah thats where you were going with that.

yes i see your points.

but no i dont think it should.  The states should be able to regulate things on their own, like the founders had originally envisioned.

Yeah. It sure beats getting swept by frat boys and ghetto rats at the public ranges.
