| Hey guys, I just bought my ar15 from a friend of mine. He built the gun with a stag arms upper and PSA lower with mag pull accessories. I was wondering as to how I register this gun, if at all. When I bought it I just handed him cash and didn't file any paperwork. I'm sure this topic has been discussed several times before but I'd just like to know where to start if anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys! |

Excellent, the receiver is under my friend's name. Should I get it switched to my name or is it good enough under his own name? Thanks for all the help by the way guys Keep it mind: it is not registered under his name. Just a copy of the sale with his name and the gun's serial number at the gun store he bought it at. There is no federal registry of guns, and very few states keep a state registry (Hawaii, for one). Fortunately, here in America they cannot punch your name into a database and see how many guns and what kinds you own. No paperwork required for private gun sales, so long as the seller isn't trying to make a business or income/profit out of it |

Well, in all seriousness actually. I know what I've done is probably illegal. I live in Columbia, SC. I just need to get some info as to how I can go about handling this. If you figured what you were doing was illegal then 1.) why did you do it without actually taking the time to learn the law, and 2.) why did you come on the internet and post about it and how you assume you're doing illegal things?

Relax, you are GTG. It's a private sale and you are South of Maryland. I'd worry if you were in MD or any state above. Can;t be too sure about those wacky states. |

IN most states long guns don't have to be registered.
here in nv we have to register handguns and get a blue card. I think if you ever do a private sale it is important to make up a bill of sale and take down the information from the person you sell it to's drivers license. That way if the rifle is ever involved in something questionable you have some proof that you sold it. |

| friends is friends, and business is business, at least draw up a full and complete bill of sale between the two of you. not saying anything bad about your friends. this is just a smart habit to get into! if you end up with something that was stolen at least you are covered if the cops knock on your door. |

[During the evening battle, when a KGB Major approaches Col. Bella]
KGB Major: Do you want to see me? Colonel Bella: Yes ... yes. Go to the sporting goods store. From the files obtain forms 4473. These will contain descriptions of weapons, and lists of private ownership. |

Yeah, he and I were talking about that today and I think that's what we're going to do. I appreciate the info guys, I'm more of a handgun and hunting rifle owner so this AR is my first and I just wanted to cover myself before I made any mistakes, (even though the mistake would've already been made.) |

With respect, please educate yourself about FEDERAL law and your applicable STATE laws. It confounds me how many gun owners and CHL licensees don't grasp these important regulations. 4073 |

If you dont know what you can and cant do by law, you wont know when you no longer have the freedom to do it. |

(red dawn) I think it is supposed to be out later this year. I started watching the original this afternoon on Netflix instant viewing. I'll be finishing it tonight in just a little while. |
