Updated with the DPMS serial.

Was a cheap walmart safe a little thicker than a file cabinet with a pry resistant door and three locking points. It was bolted to the floor but they ripped right out. It was originaly purchased to protect children from getting to the firearms more than detering burgulars. I think this time around I will go with a nicer safe as soon as I can afford one and before I start to rebuild the collection.

Thanks to everyone for reading and looking out.

Sorry man.

If they were my guns, the first place I'd look is local pawn shops (nothing against pawn shops, I do a ton of business with them). There's a gun show in Raleigh this weekend too. I'd be handing that list out to every table first thing Saturday morning...it can't hurt.

This, also check pawn shops up to 100 miles away.  Most aren't stupid enough to sell them at a local one.

Also, was this safe hidden in a closet or out in the open.  From my experiences with people stealing guns, it's usually someone who knows what you got and where they were at.

I am sorry to hear this.  I hope you have insurance to help cover your losses.  Can't replace anything sentimental but it helps.

I hope you can recover your stuff - at least some of it.

Really hate to hear about your break-in.  Sucks to be violated like that.  There's almost nothing worse than a thief.   Take a look at Drake safes, made near you in Roxboro, NC.  Their products are hard to beat!  Hope they catch the scum that stole your stuff and you get your goods bac!.  Good luck!

Liberty safes are good. Taltons in Raleigh sells them if you are from Raleigh.

I guess next time you'll have to bolt into studs or if you lag right through secure it under you floor.

An investigation into multiple breaking-and-entering incidents resulted in an arrest and the seizure of at least seven guns from a Henderson home Thursday.

The joint work by local law enforcement agencies put a damper on what officers characterized as an illegal gun operation.

Henderson police and Vance County deputies arrested Michael Miles, 18, of 609 Orange St., Henderson, after receiving a tip on his whereabouts, Henderson Police Department Spokesman Lt. Christopher Ball said.

Ball said the law enforcement offices, “received information on the whereabouts of the suspect involved in this investigation. Members surrounded a residence at the corner of Hatch and Water streets” off E. Andrews Avenue in the city.

The suspect exited the residence and fled on foot, Ball said. A foot chase ensued and Miles was apprehended by members of both agencies near Eaton Street.

A photo provided by the Vance County Sheriff’s Office shows an arsenal of seven firearms, including illegal and stolen guns, seized from the Orange Street home that’s next door to Spring Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Included were two pistol-grip, assault-style rifles, one of them a 7.62 mm Chinese version of the Russian AK-47.

Also among four shotguns were two shortened “street-sweeper” shotguns, one a double-barrel model. The cache also included extra gun parts and banana clips for the assault-style rifles.

“During the last two weeks members of (both departments) have been working closely together in the investigation of multiple breaking-and-entering (incidents) in the Vance and Franklin County area,” Ball said.

The cooperation included the Criminal Investigations Division of the VCSO and the Special Operations Division of the HPD. Officers were acting on a tip received through Crime Stoppers.

Officers charged Miles with four felonies related to thefts at 1211 Parham St. and 211 Watson Drive. Court records include more than a dozen firearm theft-related felonies charged against Miles. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office also charged Miles with several felonies.

Miles also has a record of firearm possession by a minor and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure from last year.

Miles received a $110,000 secured bond on Thursday’s charges, pending a District Court hearing on Jan. 9, according to Ball.

“The investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected by the sheriff’s office,” Ball said.

Well Tech64,  at least you have the rather rare occurrence of knowing who stole from you;  and that they were caught.

Most victims never have any kind of satisfaction in that regard.  We can only hope,  for you,  that this POS  gives up the whereabouts of the rest of your collection during the lengthy negotiation on his plea agreement.   Prayers for you that the rest of them return "un-modded"

I am just left to wonder where all my pistols and other long guns are now. Hopefuly he will spill his guts, there is no way he got that safe out on his own.
They also found the safe btw, in somebodys back yard wendsday, thats what led to his arrest. Thank god for upstanding citizens and anonomous tip lines.
I don't think im going to get them back. By the picture it looks like the AR serial number is gone, the 870 barrel is done, and there all scrached up.
12/10/2011 4:21:11 PM EDT
[#24]
Ypu reported them stolen and they were entered in NCIC right?  As a victim were you notified in order to have the ability to appear at his bond hearing?
12/11/2011 6:05:24 AM EDT
[#25]
I have not had an offical notification that they are mine(my dad works on the court house phone lines and is retired from the code enforcement in the same building as the sheriffs dept and he was told by an officer that they are most likely mine)... But, atleast the AK and AR are easily recognizable as mine.  I'm sure they are mine because of the accessorys and finish work they have.

All the serials were given to the deputies the day they were reported stolen. It appears in the picture the AR serial area of the receiver has been scrached away.

I'm glad they caught the low life bastard and hope they find the rest of your guns. You may be looking at the mag catch. I looks like the S/N is OK to me. New barrel on the 870 and you're GTG.

I hate the way the media posts certain aspects of the story..

The main story should have been that this sorry sob had violated anothers mans home, and stolen his personal property that he was legally entitled to own.
They  use words like assault rifle, and banana clips to try and scare the general public.

I hope you get your guns back, at least you know where some of them are anyway.

Did not have to wait for tommarow to speak with them... Got a call from a HPD Sgt. at 11:30PM, they found my Ruger single six in a traffic stop(phone call this late that I didn't mind answering at all).

Another one of mine off the street and he seemed pretty sincere about getting it back to me.
