| Attending my first Appleseed event this weekend and am taking my M&P with iron sights only. Event is being held in Toccoa Georgia anybody else attending? Anybody else shot the course of fire with their AR open sights? |
| my first appleseed I shot was with mp15 and wolf ammo. Open sights is all i use on it. The best i could shoot by sunday afternoon was a 198. Went back on second apple seed and used a 10/22 with open sight and the 3rd aqt I shot a 239. The biggest thing is to be consistant with your breathing and natural point of aim with no flinching. I can now shoot the m&p consistantly in the 230's after some practice. Have fun and enjoy... |
| Its hard with a carbine due to the short sight radious and wide front sight. The front sight is about twice the size of the 500yard target. Its doable, just not ideal. The sling has similar issues. Both problems can be fixed it just requires a little forethought. |

Both problems can be fixed it just requires a little forethought. This is why I use KNS .034 posts on all of my carbines. A .050 might be better on a midlength or rifle. I hope to do my first Appleseed in the coming months and will try to drag my gf along

| Thanks for all the replies I'm looking forward to it. I zeroed at an indoor range and have been gathering gear. I got a shooting mat, a sling, guess I'll have to mail order ammo as $2 a round even for 500 rounds is the cheapest locally. Also bought a 10X jacket off Ebay WAY WAY too small. Anyway I guess I tried to put this together too quick but I'll be prepared next time. |
