| I've just been wondering what she will do if/when a bunch of pro-gun bills hit her desk. From what I understand she had a real good record on gun issues when she was a member of the legislature. I wonder if she will sign them all or pic one like restaurant carry to veto by saying its too extreme. Thereby throwing a bone to her liberal base. That pretty much what Bredesen did in TN. He signed pretty much everything but decided to veto restaurant carry. What you guys think? |

My brain returns a processing error when I try to force it to pick which bill I could live without. this surge of pro-gun'ness has fed my greed and I want them all now!
My pessimistic side keeps saying "if it seems too good to be true..." I keep waiting to wake up and see our balloons being popped. Hope it doesn't happen though. |

When the Federal ethics charges hit, she'll be so worried about them she won't have time to do anything else. The only question is whether the Federales will wait until she leaves office (as with Easley) or take her out early. I am ignorant about this. Do tell. As far as our strategy, I wonder when would be a good time for a Constitutional/permitless carry bill ( with optional permit for reciprocity ) to be introduced. Removal of other carry restrictions, i.e. public gatherings, admission events, etc. Repeal of the jim Crow era purchase permits and revamping the knife laws. I guess I am greedy too. |

...Repeal of the jim Crow era purchase permits and revamping the knife laws... We were within inches of this touchdown last year (or the year before) until the NC Sheriff's Association stepped in and said it would create apocalyptic holy hell or something of that nature. One reason that I won't be supporting them anytime soon. |

IIRC (someone correct me if I am wrong) she can allow them to become law WITHOUT her signature. IE- she does not actually VETO them, so they become law by default. It is basically a way of saying "I don't support them but I won't stop them from becoming law either". I pretty gutless act but would suffice from our POV nonetheless. I am thrilled by all these pro-2A bills that are coming around. What a fabulous job so far by the new (R) house and senate. And as much as I hate to say it, IF she signs these bills I WOULD vote for her when / if she runs for re-election.

Your absolutely right. If she does not veto a law then it will automatically become law after 10 days or something like that. Thats what she just did with the law the legislature passed forcing the Attorney General Roy Cooper to challenge the Obama health care scam. She is smart enough to know most people don't want that damn law. I kinda feel the same way. If she signs all the stuff and "reforms" herself, as best a politician can, then I might could pull the lever for her reelection. But its awful early to say for sure about that now.IIRC (someone correct me if I am wrong) she can allow them to become law WITHOUT her signature. One reason that I won't be supporting them anytime soon. The permit system is nothing more than a way for Sheriff's to make money. I'm LE, when I lived in Durham (where I work) they were free. When I moved to Wake they were $5. Both on credentials. BTW, it wasn't that long ago that I could go into Lawmens with my credentials and buy without a permit. It makes no sense (other than a $$$$ issue) why LE can't purchase on their credentials the same way a CCW holder can, and I believe that the NCSA was responsible for that change as well. I mean for the low price of $90 I can use my credentials to get a CCW.... Rob |
