So I will be headed to Salisbury NC to visit some in-laws, but it sounds like we will have a little free time. I am curious what arfcom would recommend for stuff to see and do in that area.
I have been out this way before, but I have not been there in a 3 years and don't really remember what all there was out there. So Arfcom... Whats there to do in NC? |

You can take I 85 south to Concord Mills Mall. Your SO will like that, there is a Bass Pro Shop there too.
http://www.supercarsensation.com/ That could be cool if you have the extra money. 200 for an hour of driving a Lamborghini or something. Sometimes there is stuff going on at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord too. Food stuff of every sort. Maybe catch a Panthers Preseason game. What are you into? |

Are you in to minor-league baseball? The stadium I work at is about 20 minutes from Salisbury in Kannapolis (exit 63 on I85). Judging by your post, though, it seems you may be here when the team is away in Greenville (current homestand ends on the 24th). The Meroney theater is in downtown Salisbury if you're in to plays. I'm not sure what's playing right now, if anything. There's probably some other stuff in Salisbury, but I don't get up that way too much. Other than that, MM pretty much covered it. |

Well if you are into railroads and transportation history you can go up the road a couple of miles to Spencer NC and visit the NC Transportation Museum.
Lots of restored big iron, fun to look at if you are into big loud machines. It's not all rail related, some trucks, cars, planes etc. A really decent model RR shop just across the front entrance as well. http://www.nctrans.org/ |

I know we are headed to the Concord Mill Mall and Bass Pro Shop. Wife really loved that mall, and I haven't taken her to a Bass Pro shop yet, so that will be interesting. I will have to check out the supercarsensation. If there was something at Lowe's Motor Speedway we would probably try to go to that. Have to see about a game, whether football or baseball. I plan on doing some geocaching while out there, since the wife and I dabble in that a little bit. I think we were looking into parks to go hike and see some sights. I know if the weather would cooperate we would love to head to a beach (ocean or lake) and go swimming and possibly boating. I know BIL had mentioned about finding a range to shoot at out there, but don't know if that will happen. Would have to be a range where we could rent as well. I guess if there is something interesting that I didn't mention I would probably take a look at it. Thanks guys for the ideas! |

Well, since you like water, and you'll be in Salsbury, the closest lake of any size to you should be High Rock Lake...
