I was planning on doing an Appleseed shoot over memorial day.  I heard some scuttle-but that has me concerned about the guy who organizes the events.  Anyone have any first-hand knowledge they would like to share.

Thanks
Matt

Thanks, I read that Tread last year wen he posted it.  I got this email from a friend  "The Appleseed is a great concept, and would be fun, but the guy who organizes it and runs them is an absolute crook.  I honestly don't know everything he has done, but I do know that he used the Riverside gun club to buy firearms and ammunition through the CMP and then sell them and kept money personally.  He has tried to eliminate the jr rifle team there and has at least one remaining law suite filed against him right now over the range, jr. rifle team and missing (stolen) equipment.  He uses the money from the Appleseed events to finance his legal fees.  I've talked to people that have run the appleseed events and apparently the turnover is unbelievable, because he basically screws everyone that works the events and they quit doing them.

Wow I'm glad that thread finally works again.  I thought it was long lost, as I"ve tried to find it before and only pieces showed up.

Brings back memories, and a WOW it was how long ago?  Seems like just a few months ago to me.

Blah, I need some more instruction and definately some practice.  I got that Magpul Dynamics DVD and I"ve been trying to do some of the things taught in it and Its helped me quite a bit when I can remember to do what it teaches.  Stance and followthrough are what I'm trying to work on the most.  Being left handed has again left me at a disadvantage because the video only shows right handed stuff.  I also find it completely impossible to shoot off hand with my non-dominant eye.  I might as well take those rounds out of the magazine and just throw them on the ground like the video says.

I'm also lazy, out of shape and will readily admit that.  I spend long hours at work fixing cars all day and don't have much left over when I get home if you know what I mean....  I'm neither a rifleman nor a cook.  I'm a Mercedes-Benz technician and that is what I do best.  I'd still like to become a better shooter and a better prepared invidual though.

Ahhh, the Appleseed thread lives!!!

I went to the class with Saturnstyl.  Both of us had similar experiences at the class.  Too little prep time to incorporate a new stance or sling position (after being shown once).  Maybe I'm a slow learner

If the OP takes the class, get the AQT targets and practice, practice, practice.  Make sure your rifle is ZERO'd (25 yds was what we zero'd at).

I guess a really big question is......What do you want to take home from this class?  What do you want to learn to be ABLE to do with your rifle?   If you want to learn CQB, this isn't the class.  If you want to maybe learn high power rifle and maybe benchrest shooting, this is your class.

That's my $0.02

My grandson and I've have been twice and enjoyed it both times.  Some of the same instructors and shooters were there both times.  The first day is a lot of instruction and limited shooting.  The second day, really half day, is lots of shooting.

I have no knowledge of Fred other than seeing him at the last shoot.  He tended to talk a little long but he wanted to make sure we all understood MOA and adjusting sights.

We thought it was a fun time and will definitely go again soon.
