Has anyone ever been in the repo business?  I know a guy who has a used car lot and he just fired his repo man.  He has asked me and his son to start doing this task.  He offers $400 per job so it would be $200 in pocket after we split it.  Sounds good but has anyone had any experience in this field of work?

"We got Obama"

He's a regular Robin Hood.

Too bad I will be deployed when reality hits his followers in the face and they start freaking out.

There is a show that comes on AE some times.  I think it's called Repo or something along those lines.  After seeing what they put up with I don't think it's worth $200 each.  I recently saw one of their shows and a group of people started shooting at the Repo guy...  Keep in mind you will probably have to track down the vehicle with that $200.

Correction the tv show comes on Tru TV.  Here's the link for it:

I think as long as the guy who is offering the job supply's the truck, fuel cost, and the insurance, then it sounds like a great way to pick up some extra money. Just be sure to have you CCW

a good friend of ours did repo work out in Phoenix from 1995-1999....he made really good money, but decided after 4 years, it wasn't worth the risks any longer.  He had dogs sic'd on him, got shot at several times––once by a little old lady.  He had people follow him from the pickup to the lot, and more than once, had them try to follow him home.  The guy came to work bruised, battered, and and beaten at least once/month.

(eta:  he wasn't very stealthy)

Repo work is NOT for me.

Ok, the truck, fuel and insurance is provided, I do have my CCW and something to use.  Then again getting beat bi-weekly isn't my idea of fun.  I have a good secure job so maybe it isn't worth it.  Thanks guys if anyone else has had any experiences please let me know.

I use to work with a friend (who also posts on here) with collections/repossessions for a furniture company.  While it isn't a car, nobody wants to lose their (our merchandise) they dropped (well, their credit score when they had it!) 500-3000 dollars on.  I never had one problem with anyone when we went to collect our merchandise.  This didn't mean we let our guard down, but the people were cooperative and admitted they were at fault.  You may have those people, and you probably will also have the people that aren't going to let your property go without a fight.  Those people you need to use the ninja tactics on

i used to own my own repo bus. had two tow trucks. spent more time fixing the trucks and arguing with people that "paid" their car notes as they put it then making money. sold both trucks and the business and realized i was too old for that. trust me if it was easy everyone would do it.

Favorite ninja move would be to call the cops so they can kick in the person's door if they don't want to answer .  The job wasn't worth the money.

I did it for several months with my girlfriends ( of that time) uncle.....we would only get leased vehicles and the company we worked for had the keys to the vehicles. It was fun....especially the night we repoed a limo on a friday night and took it atlantic city for the weekend before bringing it in.

had an ex-gf down in fl that lost her brother when he got shot in the stomach while on a repo run... bled to death on the side of I-75

its not bad though if you use your head...

but check local and state law... some states require that you get licensed as a surety agent...
