I have never seen such a bunch of “hard men” turn pu$$y so fast.
Obama won. That’s the bad news frankly the other bad news would have been McCain won. There was no good choice no shining leader this election and we all know it.

All I see is a bunch of men wining that the sky is falling talking about buying guns and riots and succession.
Let me tell you Secession was tried about 170 years ago and it did not work out so well then. And the only Apaches the US government had at the time did not have 25mm guns and rockets.

You want the next election to be different GET ORGANIZED NOW.
We were beaten on tactics and numbers. We will be defeated again if we don’t learn put all that energy into working within the system. Obama is in office not because of Ideas or principles or even talent. He is there because his machine registered more NEW voters.
You need new voters because the People who have been through an election or two know the difference between campaigning and governing. New voters only see the dream of the campaign.
The euphoric and energized throngs of supporters you see today are the disillusioned and cynical non voters of the next election.
Start working for the next election today. Not on Election Day
You bought a new gun, or ammo, or some magazines. Good for you.
But how will that help the Country in the next election? Lots of people used this as an excuse for buying toys. Now how about spend some time to save it?

The Economy is a mess. While the US economy is too big and complex for any president to have much effect. O will be up to his ears in trying to “fix” the economy his entire one term. At the end of four years the economy had better have improved amazingly or he is gone. He knows it. Because his Change supporters will have melted away once they see what the change is, same old same old.
President leads the Government the Congress runs it.

I already see defeated men saying “he is not my president” or threatening not to fly the US flag again. If you dislike O more than you love your country go ahead but to paraphrase Chesty Puller One SOB President in four or five wont ruin the Country.

You want to do something? GO ON THE OFFENSIVE NOW.
Today start your drafts for letters to your new elected officials. You are not alone about 50% of the people did not vote for O. Remember we don’t have to change the minds or get 50% more votes we need 2% to change things.
Keep the pressure on have letters stating your views on their desks when they get to the new job.

You need to ask yourself this question
“Do I love my Country?”

Well DO you Punk?

I've not seen anybody turn "pussy" here. You honestly think we're better off with Obama than we would have been with McCain? Also, what good has "writing your elected officials" ever done anybody? Tell me that. They were just elected, they have what they want. So crap on all the normal people. Politicians are controlled by money and money alone. I can't believe so many people still honestly believe that calling or writing a politician is going to accomplish a thing. The lie to get in there, and then do nothing but what they want or what they are told to do by big money. Been that way forever.

I thought I was asking you questions about what you said? As for me proposing anything, I didn't. Unfortunately for most of us, we are not rich running major corporations giving millions to the politicians. I'm sure if some multi millionaire that's a gun enthusiast started to feel his hobby being threatened sent a large sum of under the table cash to the right people, things would change to his liking. But in reality, that's not going to happen. Why? Because a guy with that kind of money is above the law in America. Even if concealed carry, or assault weapons, high cap mags, etc. does get banned, it won't affect him. If he gets caught with one.....it'll be quickly swept away and forgotten by some high ranking LE Official afraid of repercussions from the rich guy's high ranking political friends. So basically, we are just peasants getting the shaft. Without money, there is no power. Just the way this country works today. It is what it is.

I just feel disappointed in that the winner was declared before NC even awarded it's electoral votes.  that means my vote meant nothing, even if mccain had won NC it wouldn't have mattered, Obama was already declared the winner and was giving his acceptance speech.  so in this election NC votes were worthless and it wouldn't have mattered if we got every single person in the state to vote mccain.

Us and Missouri.  Still, this was a campaigned state.  If it does go for McCain that would be a good statement.  Virginia may still be in the mix too with their military votes, that case isn't even going to be heard for another week.  It won't be enough though, not with the west coast votes being so big.

Never feel like your vote is worthless.  Almost half of the people of the USA feel that the wrong choice was made.  That makes a pretty big voice.  Votes can translate into public confidence, which is shaky now.

That may be so to some degree, but take a look at what straight party voting has done. Beth Purdue, a Mike Weasley protege if there ever was one. Roy Cooper re-elected, against concealed carry. Leslie Merritt, a highly competent state auditor and one of the last remaining firewalls for the people was defeated. That's a bad one. Dole? Meh. I only voted for her sorry RINO ass for balance of power in Congress. Now she can go back to Kansas.
Richard Burr up for midterm elections, who has earned my undying enmity for his voting record, another RINO.

In short, I don't see much good coming out of this election except for one thing. Who they gonna blame in two years? Remember the definition of futility, doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different outcome. NC GOP is a reflection of that definition.

NC becomes the California of the south.

Let's all chip in and get some public speaking courses for Ron Paul. Maybe if we can get him to present a little better we could have a better choice next time. Not saying that Ron Paul is the answer, just a better addition to multiple choice.

I'm compiling my list of "congrats letters with a list of what I want as a voter" letters to go to our new reps. Might as well start now and beat them often to reinforce what I want.

Well thought out and provocative post NOI.

We've just witnessed a political 'perfect storm' but all is not necessarily lost.
Will be resign ourselves to a sinking ship or will we begin to bale?

Look at the bright side - In spite of an overwhelming victory for the Dems, we managed to avoid a super majority.

BTW - I think I am more concerned about an emboldened MSM than I am an overreaching federal government.  The media has to be positively giddy about their historic influence in this election.
11/5/2008 12:20:52 PM EDT
[#9]
Dittos on the above.  This was an election the media won - not Obama.  He just happened to be the soup of the day for them.

They picked McCain by destroying or helping destroy any other viable candidate onthe right, they picked Obama and carried his water all thru the election cycle.

The Dem's don't have the majority - George Soros and the maintream media traitors in this country do.  They just bought it and handed it to the Dem's to play with for now.

I am not a quitter so not giving up - never have.  I have no plans to leave the U.S.  Family has been here since the earliest Virginia Company settlements.  Part of us earlier than that!

I am not a martyr - I'm a survivor.  My family will be fine because I have done/am doing/will do everything in my power and trusting on God's providence for us.

I am going to remain involved locally with the Republican party to see if it can get over the next hurdle.  There's a culture shift occuring and it'll take time and pressure to affect it in any way.  Maintaining our freedom is a lifelong struggle and always has been.  To have believed that any one man or woman in the Whitehouse can secure it for us is to have bought the enemy's lie.  It takes constant attention, work and resources to keep up the fight.   So, what better do I have to spend my time on, spend my efforts on and spend my resources on than the cause of freedom?

Ol' Obamy ain't got all the answers and his constituents are gonna find that out.  We need to be ready for the next Senatorial elections in two years.

Oh yeah, my public service announcement:
"Thanks a hell of a lot Bob Barr for siphoning off over 25,000 piddling ass votes "to make a statement" cause thats all you did.
And gave the state of NC to Obama.  You Dipshit."

This is Mach and I approved this message.

+1 to Mach!

I couldn't agree more, this was a media election (as it is more and more every year).  We witnessed a well planned, media lead path from "who?" to "how?!?",

I will not give up..... Even though we have some hard roads ahead, we as the PEOPLE need to get off our collective asses and make a difference.  So many (not all) of us sit around and shake our fingers at the television but never get up to send a letter, write an email or work the campaign for someone or something we believe in.

I have already resigned myself to spending the next 4 years educating the now 14 - 18 yr olds on how to make a difference.  Of the hundreds I see every day, most of them are in shock that something like this could happen...... GOOD!! I am so glad to see them waking up.  This has been a cold bucket of water on all of us.

No more sleeping in, no more "whatevers", no more "it doesn't matter".

IT DOES MATTER!

If you are a praying man/woman, now MORE THAN EVER is the time to get on your knees before the Lord God almighty and beg him to take this country back!  We are in danger of shunning Israel, losing "In God We Trust" and allowing basic immorality to become accepted by our great country!

Take a STAND, tell everyone who will listen.

"Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure than they have it now, They may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. They will only exchange Tyrants and Tyrannies." - John Adams

AMEN!  Yeah, the Democratic sweep in NC was downright embarassing for us Republicans.  Per an earlier post of mine in Gen. Discussion:  Obamanation was such a grassroots force to be reckoned with, and the cult of personality won. The congressional candidate I worked for, B.J. Lawson, got crushed despite a huge grassroots effort, lots of money raised, an old fart incumbent who voted for the bailout twice, and a transpartisan campaign (lots of Dems supporting him because of his stance on civil liberties, etc.). As others have you have already mentioned above, we got crushed because of all of the new Obamanator voters and the freaking "Straight Party" circle that you can fill in here in North Carolina. So it was a right guy, wrong year situation because essentially everyone here in NC with an "R" next to their name lost bigtime.

So what's the next step? It's obvious that the Republican Party needs a major enema at all levels of govt. We need progressive, young energetic leaders. B.J. is a young, energetic, attractive and more articulate Ron Paul and thankfully he's not giving up.  I for one, until B.J. runs again in two years, will work hard to infiltrate the local and state Republican Party establishment. These constipated blue-haired neo-cons need to get TFO and let 36-year-old working moms like me in. And who will rise up at the national level to take a stand like Newt Gingrich did in 1994? Who the hell knows. But the bottom line is that politics is local so we gotta start there.

This is our opp. to redefine the conservative base and Republican Party so we need to take charge in NC, esp. for when the Obama Administration and Democratic Congress light the big bag of crap they're holding on fire!

It's the new American way. In debt to your eyeballs, never getting ahead, working your ass off for what.....     Or, be a slack ass and get everything handed to you like so many do and live a happy, stress and care free life. The Government only looks after the rich that give them money under the table. They give tax dollars to slack sorry people that don't want to work for a living. I am like everyone else here I do not like the fact he won either but that cannot be undone. This kind of stuff happens every 4 years with Americans at each other's throats it seems over who the best candidate is or was. This is the first time that blacks turned out in droves to vote. MSNBC, CNN, and CBS painted Obama out to be a saviour to our country. Katie Couric I feel wanted to have this joker's love child by the way she acted during her interviews with him. Keith Olberman just nauseated me as well. He is one mofo I cannot stand period. I am not going to panic buy because he won the election. It will do me no good.  What does bother me though is that people who are voicing their opinions about Obama are being investigated by the Secret Service ala the N word being spray painted at NCSU.
I do not believe anyone should be threatened with violence but using Federal law enforcement entities to investigate private individuals who have opposing opinions from the popular belief bothers me. If a threat was credible then it would be justified but this was done on the "freedom of expression" wall.  The next four years will be a make it or break it for our country.

Personally, I think it had more to do with these rich yankee kids coming down here to go to Duke, Wake, Guilford, Merideth, and a few of the other private colleges than it does with a bunch of ghetto bastards moving here from out of state just to vote.  Those kids are the reason why property taxes are getting completely out of control.  It is easy to vote to raise taxes on the working people when mommy and daddy pay all the bills.

Its so easy to look for a scapegoat to direct and focus all of your anger right now, but really, all its serving to do is create divisive feelings and alienate others at a time when we need each other the most. I think what we should do is stop looking backwards and focus all of this energy on what we are going to do moving forward. How are we going to win the interims in 2 years? How are we going to repel the AWB if it comes? How can we grow the gun culture?

Right now there's a battle for the soul of the Republican Party. IMO it's imperative for the long run to purge the RINO, Dem-lite leadership of the party and fill it with fiscal conservatives. We at least need to hang on to what we have in 2010 but bottom line is I think purging the party takes precedence, so we have a chance in 2012 and beyond.

As far as the RKBA and the AWB, we need to lobby our reps (Dem and Rep alike) to vote against or fillibuster it.
