| I'm located in Concord, NC just outside of Charlotte and am beginging to plan a new paint job for my HD Road King and am looking for shops locally to do the job. Plans are to drop off after season so there will be no rush. Looking to repaint the original black paint which has a few dings and swirl marks with a pirate scheme with a few graphics and scroll work. I want a good job, but so far the estimates I've gotten run 2000 to 3000. Does anyone out there have any recomendations on good work at a reasonable price? Thanks for the help |

Not knowing the exact condition of your bike and what you actually want painted on your bike, the prices you posted are fair. Your bike needs to be dis-assembled, any damage repaired and then prepped for the paint work, all time consuming. You said you wanted graphics and paint schemes, how many colors and how much detail raises the costs. When painting graphics, flames or even simple stripes many layers of clear have to be applied and once the clear dries you spray more clear, continuing the process until no line is felt. Of course theres really more involved than what I mentioned, this is just the basics. High end paint is VERY expensive but then again so is custom paint work and you dont use cheap materials on quality repairs. |
| I would have to agree that the prices you have are about average. I am not a painter, but I have worked on getting some high end stuff painted where I work. Small jobs too. With a few hand painted graphics, the price can run several thosand. I watched the guy work on some of our stuff, there is more prep work than you can imagine. And that all takes time if you want it right. |
