Can someone give me any and all info on setting up a trust and anything else about them I might need to know? Laws, whether to have a lawyer do it, what is the best way to go about it, things that I need to know. Should be pertinent to n.c. I Found a bit of info for s.c, but I would think that may be slightly different than what I'd need to know for n.c.Thanks.

Yet another good reason for being a Team Member -- you can use the Search feature to find stuff like this.

Here's a 46 page thread on trusts:

and anyone can search the web using Google.  Try looking for "NFA Trust" --

Well i can tell you your going to need a lawyer for some of it. I found that you can't just type it up and thats it, Trust me it's easier if its done legally. Where mine got difficult was with my investments. I have two brokerage accounts which are easy but one of them is from another trust along with a piece of property so that required communication between the banks lawyer and mine(they didn't want to talk to me). After fighting with that i just got fed up and decided to let my lawyer handle it. I just tell him what i want done and he's drawing it up. Sorry i can't be of more help to ya, Good luck with yours.

Man, I'm already aggravated just at your situation and I haven't even started with mine yet hehe.
Wow, this sounds like a pain. So, If you don't get a lawyer involved, you probably won't be doing it the legal way?
I'm about broke as broke can be right now, but I was thinking of down the road, is this something worth messing with?

Why would you want to mix in money with your guns?  Just create a separate trust for NFA items.  Or, maybe I'm wrongly assuming the OP was asking about NFA trusts.

My intent is for NFA items, but I did not take into consideration that some people may have other things in their trust. Mine would be just gun stuff tho.

My guns will be handed down to my kids as personal property not NFA. When my dad passed he had his collection in his personal property which i received and all i did was add it into mine.  Between my Dads collection and mine there are several museum quality pieces, My kids know who gets certain pieces and what goes into said museum.
