Anybody with a crystal ball want to take a wild swack at what the weather is going to be like? My oldest is stationed at Shaw AFB and is getting married the Saturday after Easter. Probably going to get down to Charleston at least one day to get out to Sumter, saw the Hunley, the Battery and Folly Island last time we were out. Planning to go to Francis Beidler Forest, is that a good place to see the swamps and critters? One day down to Savannah and Ft. Pulaski. Also any other suggestions on places to go. We've been down to Beaufort. Myrtle Beach is of little interest. |
| According to weather.com it looks like low in the lower 40's to mid to upper 70's for a high. I spent 3 years a Shaw. It's very mild there this time of year. Go to weather.com and type in zip code 29152 for Shaw. It'll give you a 10 day forecast. Hope you don't have allergies to pollen. Everything gets covered in yellow dust this time of year. |

weather looks to be decent. Some rain but overall pretty nice. Be careful in Sumter itself. It's not a very nice city. If you don't have reciprocity for your CCW it's legal to keep your pistol loaded in the console or glovebox. Charleston. Stay downtown. Hampton Inn is very reasonable and walking distance to everything you want. Just don't head the wrong way. it can get sketchy vary fast. Take your wife for a carriage ride and nice meal at somewhere like SNOBs. Hominy Grill in the morning it very nice for breakfast. it's quaint with excellent food. Nothing beats Charleston. |

Spend a day on the Yorktown. I grew up in that area and waited until last year to go. Worth the visit. While in Mt.Pleasant, go to The Wreck Seafood restaurant. VERY hard to find, great place. Google is your friend. Take cash, no CC or checks I understand. Here: http://local.yahoo.com/details?id=13458841 All the local recommend it, but GET THERE EARLY!!! I cannot stress enough. The last two times I tried to get in, I was once there right as they were closing, and once the house was full. They don't advertise, no signs to find it. All the locals go there, and want to keep it to themselves! (Even thought Giada of the Food Channel did a show from there) Might help. Francis Beidler Forest is really nice, just take bug spray or lotion!! and a camera. And plan on walking a lot! Great boardwalk thru the swamp. If your into zoos, Columbia's is pretty good. |
