Its $70.. Any thing I should know before I go? What is it going to be like? Just listen take notes then a test? Then shooting? Thanks, CXS Probably gonna take 2 months for me to actually receive it.. courthouse is a mad house. Reporters from all over the country. Onslow County, NC <--- Home of Camp Lejeune |

It will vary from place to place.. Just listen in class. I'm not sure if your instructor will have a test, but mine did not. Don't sweat it, just pay attention to where you can and can't carry with your CHP. That's probably the biggest problem I see from CHP holders, is that very few know the complete list of no carry places. Telephoneman ETA: There should also be a long discussion about use of deadly force, and when it is/not appropriate. That is probably the most important thing you will learn from the class, if you don't already know. |

WATCH the video tapes. There will be a long pre taped segment. Too often I hear this as the "Mr. Bow tie man" segment. Something to be endured to get to the permit. "Mr. Bow tie" is Reece Trimmer. One of the best legal minds in NC. He is a driving force in the training of Police and use of force in NC. CXS I know you are signed up for the Defensive Carbine course. Think of His section as the Defensive Tactical Law course. He is telling you how to stay OUT of jail and OUT of legal trouble should you have to use deadly force. Mr. Trimmer decided to make the presentation himself. He is very pro self defense and wanted people to have the facts to keep them out of trouble. Most could not afford to hire this man for leagle advice. Listen to what he tells you. NOI |
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. Advice. Tips. Experiences. CXS |

Yes, watch tapes. Pay close attention to them. As my instructor told my class. If you walk in on the middle of a situation where deadly force could be used, best advice is to back out and be a witness. Example: you walk into a convience store and you see male with a knife standing over a female. Shoot-Don't Shoot? Second Example: You are in the convience store and female runs into store with knife in hand aproaching same male subject. Male takes knife away from female and male is standing over the female. Know when to step in and know when to step back. Hopefully your instructor will hammer this point home. |
I hope it only takes 2 months for you. Mine took four months in Davidson County but that was a couple years ago. When I submitted the paperwork they told me it would take all of 3-4 months and that was accurate. |
yay![]() I swear. If it takes that long....................... Im just gonna have to wait.... ![]() CXS |

WOOT!!! That was actually one of the easiest things I have ever done in my life.. I now know the do's and don'ts.. Im gonna read the book a little more thoroughly to have a greater understanding of what to do and when to do it..
Example:If I did not see the confrontation from the start I don't do anything.. Second Example: She was the Instigator, I cant touch the guy, don't do anything.. CXS ETA: bow tie dude was SOOOO monotone, and the mid sentence pauses drove me nuts... |

Congrats! Glad it went well for you. I was pleased to have my wife and I get our CWPs this past year (even though she's not as enthusiastic about things as I am, at least I don't have to worry about her catching a charge, and she's legal if she needs to be, at least), and it was a very liberating experience for me. Wish we didn't have to go through some of the details to legally carry, but at least we still can do so. Regards, karz |
Grasshopper.............er CXS has learned lesson well |
