If one forms a trust for the purpose of purchasing NFA items, is that at all like an LLC where someone can search for the owner because a filing takes place at the state level?

Thanks in advance,

Anybody know any attorneys that specialize partly in trusts for suppressors?

As far as I know (but I could be wrong), there is no requirement in NC to have it "on record" or to file it with the state.  This is how it should be IMHO, since it is private, personal property, much like a TV set.

An LLC is different because it is considered a business basically, and they want to make sure they can TAX you on it if needed.

That's what makes sense to me. I'm asking as I don't want it to be anyone's business. In fact, I have a Florida CCW. And the AG office said it was good when I moved here. But half the officers I asked didn't know 2 years ago about the reciprocity law. Some others thought if I was a resident of NC it was not valid. Since most officer rightly default to "when in doubt...arrest" I got my NC permit.

Thanks,
Walsh
