| I am looking for cheap optics. The only ranges near me are 100 yards so I don't need a lot. However, I want to shoot a golf ball at 100yds. I saw ATN 5X33L scope with .223 bullet-drop compensator and range finder on the internet. It seems to have a lot of options for the money. (about $200). Does anyone know if this would be a waste of money? Any advice on the subject would be great. |

In my book, Leapers=Junk I had their sorry excuse for a scope mount one time. While we are kickin brands around, who makes the NC Star stuff? A gun show dealer had the NC Star holosight that looked like a poor man's version of an EOtech for about 80 bucks. Is that more cheaply made Chinese stuff? |

NC Star is Chinese. I have a 4x14x40 NC Star on an AR and it has been a pretty good scope. Paid $80 for it. Holds zero...no problems yet. I think the Nikon Buckmasters for $159 at Gander are a good deal for cheaper optics. Buddy of mine put one on a Rem 700. It has real nice glass. |

I really like the SWFA Super Sniper 10x42 rear focus. 299.99 + shipping in a larue QD mount. I do have this on my WOA varmint Upper with 20 inch BBl. I put it on my 16 inch stag upper this past weekend and it worked pretty well for load development. but I dont think there is any way I can shoot offhand with a 10x scope. I have also heard good things about the bushnell elite 3200 variable. Check out SWFA.com also the optics review on snipershide.com Derek |

My "cheap" optic is a Nikon 6.5x20 mil-dot illuminated reticle that wasn't bad for around 400 bucks. So far I've been pleased. For cheap and serviceable in the 200 dollar range, have a look at Nikon's non-illuminated scopes. The glass is awesome and they are pretty durable. A 20" AR isn't going to batter a scope that much if all you are using it for is punching paper. That said, my "cheap" Nikon is sitting in a set of badger rings that aren't exactly cheap, and they are the proper rings for that Nightforce I've got my eye on. |
