There's a show coming up in Raleigh soon.  Dixie Gun & Knife.....last time I went was 10 years ago and they had what I considered to be ALOT of military type rifles; is this still the case?

How are the prices compared to other shows?

I have not been to any other shows in a while, but I have been able to find what I needed at the Raleigh show the last few years.

Are you looking for parts, or complete rifles?

As usual I've started late in the game, I have more needs than I do cash right now.

I'm looking for mags, ammo, and MREs especially - a nice scoped bolt action rifle would be good too....maybe another AK as well.

30 round mags run @ $10-12.

Does SG still have the mag deal from a while back? Seems that was a great deal.

i dont go to the gun shows like i used to. if im not buying a gun or powder/primers i had rather just order the stuff. if i decide to get a rra entry tactical ill go and check the prices and maybe get one. if not ill give my son money for powder and primers and he can pick that up.

The last Raleigh show I went to they had Rock River M4's for around 875.00

$875 - is that the going rate? I'd like to have one of those...

What I really need is a bolt action right now.

if you are looking for an accurate bolt gun and dont want to spend alot of money check out the savage 110 tacticals. i know first hand how accurate they are with premium ammo.

AMEN!
I have an older one (and it's great) but Five has the newer model with the accutrigger and it's awesome.
Hands down best bang for the buck.

Gotta agree on the Savages.  Like u352 said, I've got a Model 10FP Choate with a 20 power Super Sniper scope on that I have less that $800 in.  I've only shot it at 100 to zero it, but my best five shot group was around 1/2 inch

Not that I don't like to do my own research, but off hand - what's the maximum effective range?  What do they go for these days new / used ?

ETA: I do not know much about bolt action rifles... NADA as far as optics go.
I may need a left handed rifle - but won't be sure until I can shoulder the rifle and find out for sure.

Your help is definately appreciated.

Typically--and depending on your application of course--in the line of bolt action rifles--be prepared to spend more on glass than on the rifle itself.

Well, I know what I'll be looking for at the show. Thanks for the heads up.

Anyone know of anything I need to be wary of with these rifles... although I'd prefer buying new - my budget may force me to buy used. (It all depends on the ammo prices)

if you are refering to bolt guns.. i ordered 2 savage 110 tacticals from wal-mart aout a year ago. they were around 480 each. ive never been real comfortable about buying used guns. get a new one if possible. theres going to be a savage vendor there with tricked out rifles. he's the one that shot me a line of b.s. after wasting most of a saturday going to his store to buy the guns, i ended up going to wal-mart. saved some money in the process.

It's the only show I go to since it's near by.  Yeah there's a RRA dealer, and for DIY'rs Black Rifle Works and Del-ton is there.  Ammo's available but price is all increased, Ammunitionstore usually has a table there.  You might see 1 or 2 Colt LE rifles at most at the show, hit or miss.

At 100 yards, using Federal Gold 168 grain BTHP, Luepoled Mk4LRT, my holes were literally on top of each other.  Coolest thing I ever saw.  Great accuracy.  I wish I could find a longer range to zero on.  If I could do it again I would have bought a 10X super sniper instead of the Mk4 though.

An aquantance who hunts told me his SAVAGE  "kicked like a mule"...so he sold it.
He had an "older model" (?) with a wooden stock...not the newer styles.

As far as AKs and accessories at the show - should be plenty right? What about parts kits and or receivers?
