Anyone going to the gunshow in Lexington this weekend?  I have to teach a class Saturday morning, but I think I am going to head that way when I get finished...hopefully around lunch time..

I'm thinking about it. I have never been and always wanted to try the Lexington BarBeQue with it's red slaw.

the lexington style BBQ is great.  i like both styles we have here in NC!  i recommend Speedy's BBQ or Lexington BBQ for the best.  its a matter of opinion of course.

i have a scouting  function to attend so i may go sunday afternoon.  i need to sell a little Marlin .22 youth model my kids have outgrown.

Another vote for Speedy's
I don't know if I'll make it Sat.
Soccer game and basketball. If the games are in the afternoon,I'll be at the show when it opens.
If not I'll be there Sunday morn.

I'll be there Saturday, probably early and stay until lunch or so.  Be careful when searching for Barbecue, IRC, the closest resterant to the show has a "No Firearms" sign in the door...turned me away last time

Damn, 352, I can't believe you've never had Lexington BBQ!
Another vote for Speedy's.  Get some onion rings, too.  Unless they've changed recipes since I was there, they're well worth it.

If you're going, plan on a building that's way too small for the crowd.  I won't be there, just because  I overspent at the Metrolina.  I need to plan on sending the .gov a couple thousand next month.

machaira, don't sell the youth model.  Your grandchildren are going to need a starter rifle.  If you're intent on selling it, I might be interested.  In 20 years, I might be able to sell it back to you.

I'll be there Sunday, but broke.  The EE is killing me!

For those that haven't been to Lexington before, be prepared for a crowd.  It's tuff to navigate that show, especially if you are super-sized like me.

You definitely want to hit Speedy's on the way out, but the ribs that they cook at the show are really good also.

i plan on taking my son  saturday morning,to look for a couple scopes for his rifles.just hoping wally-world will have both of the rifles here buy then.the .243 is here but the .22 crickett isn't here yet.
i will have to pass on sampling the lexington bbq.i live about 3 mins from lexington.

Apex. I am pretty sure I can get to Lexington, it's the finding the gun show I need help on.

ETA: I will probably try 64west into Lexington
3/4/2005 6:57:44 AM EDT
[#12]
If you're coming into Lex on 64W, you'll see the signs for the show.  It's about a mile east of the highway 8 exit.
3/4/2005 8:44:44 AM EDT
[#13]
if you are coming down 64 ,when you get to lexington.go over the business 85 bridge then the next turn to the right there will be a waffle house
turn right go down the road beside the waffle house, on your right will be the gun show.
if you take the service road in front of the waffle house,it will take around by the mobile home dealers, then the fairgrounds will be on your left.

there is plenty of signs around when you get close.

Just got back from the show. Not to bad. Much smaller than I thought it was going to be. AssaultTechnologies was by far the dominate vendor (I always find the dude nice to chat with) followed by those that always have the orange tables. It was just plain nice to get away with the 2 parasites that some call children from the wife. Just can't beat that for $5.00

There were quite a few real good deals there on a some pistolas.

I wet myself when I fondled the Para Warthog that AssaultTechnologies had on the table. I just hate that it didn't follow me home

Holy cow was that show packed! GLOCK-23 and I did the waffle house, looked but didn't buy and finished off at Speedy's. I hope the Sunday crew can scrape up some deals.
-JR
PS: I am still digesting the last pickled egg and it's now fighting with some all day onion rings.......thx 350

ETA: the surplus store on 64 between Lexington and Asheboro has a shopping cart full of M-14 stocks for $5. Of course I already snagged the nicest one

It was packed to the walls with people.
I might try to go tomorrow just to see what I missed today.

85 south to 64 east. Delks is on your right just before you get into Ashboro

or

220 south to 64 west. Delks is on your left as you leave Ashboro.

Kind of hard to miss. Has all sorts of milsurp out front. Last time I went by there he had a Huey sitting out front. Mind you that it was not a complete Huey
3/9/2005 4:00:18 AM EDT
[#31]
Yes but it was the good half of a Huey The prices were all over the place. They had some cool breif cases for $30!!! Seems like any type of neat box was super high priced. I can't believe an M-14 stock wouldn't be worth more than 5 bucks either now or in a couple years.

It's between 85 and 220. The place is huge. Prices seem a little high. Last time I drove by a picked up 2 20 rounders for 15 a each. They have all kinds of junk. The best deal I saw was bando's in almost new condition with pin and cardboards for $2.00 each. Plenty of ammo cans and such. They also had M16 steal racks outside. They had a Hummer and a KLR dirt bike too.
