Is anyone here experienced with buildiing Fals? I have three kits I believe its time to get them built and ready for shootin'.  Just wondering if anyone had built one before or had experience with building them.

I don't have a clue (as usual), but would like to build one also.  From what I hear, they're not too hard, but headspacing is critical and a bit touchy.

I did a lot of research on it at FAL files, and it didn't seem too bad.  WECSOG.org has a step by step illustration of someones build that looked pretty good and quite helpful.  But, in the end I wussed out when I found a deal on an ARS G1 Carbine.  And by now, I've put that ARS Carbine on consignment up in Butner, hoping to sell it before I recieved the DSA that I had at the RTP ARF.com meet.  Didn't quite work out did it.

Anyway, It's something I'd love to see.  I'd be happy to pass along all of the links that I put together when researching it.

Thanks Wofie, if you would like, once I get all the parts and approved parts, and the receivers, and tools, maybe we could a bunch of us together, order a few pizzas, and see about building these guys.  It would be a good learning process, and that way if we ever did it again, there would be more than one of us that could put one together.  I do not mind using my kits as guinea pigs.  I have been going to FALfiles off and on for years, and I have studied some Rhodesian history, so I used to be heavily into Fals. I held on to these kits for years, both becasue the funds weren't there, and because of the ban, but I htink now is the itme to get these jokers built.has

I have an old beater century fal that works well, and is plenty accurate, but I would like to build these kits the way I want them.  hug.gif

Man, I wish this state would get a lottery

Well I could lie and say no but the fact is I have done 2 with some assistance from an experianced friend I just dont like doing them the last time I did it I cut the crap out of my hand on the "Cut" reciever chunk trying to salvage a later scrapped barrel. But if no one else can do it for you let me know. I can help

I am gonna work on getting the receivers and the appropriate American parts. This sounds like a plan.

Red,
Do you already have the tools necessary?

I noticed FAC has Imbel kits, $185 I think.  The Imbel receivers are $179 I believe.

My buddy has the timing rod and a couple of the timing keys we could probably buy from him when we know the right sizws and I have the lathe to use to do shoulder cutbacks.

If you guys are anywhere near Louisburg I know a guy up there that has built some FALs (he's on a HK kick right now) that would be willing to help you out. Let me know and I can cooridinate.

When you get those $179 Imbel receivers (from TDW?) get me one too. I'm still short one for the two kits hidden under the bed.
