Just loaded up some 124gr. Nosler BTs  for the Blackout. Going to be hunting suppressed for the first time. Also using an AR for the first time as well.

Building a 300 blackout now.  Won't be ready till next season.  Interested in hearing a supersonic hunting round through a suppressor.

I have some Nosler 150 gr BTs loaded for my .30-06 and sighted in.  Unfortunately, I'm not going to be out on opening day.  I'll have to wait until the following weekend.  I already agreed to help out at the Wanenmacher's Tulsa Show.

This will be my third time deer hunting, and hopefully it will be my first harvest.  There's an albino out where I'm going, but I'm supposed to leave her alone.

I can't go until the following weekend too.
4th season, and never got one, but we've been begging and borrowing land, so little to no prep, better than sitting at home though!

Good luck gents.

I'm using 150 gr. Federal Fusion in my tikka bolt action 30-06.

My daughter and I went out youth weekend.  We saw a small buck that was moving pretty fast and seemed spooked.  She wasn't able to get a good shot before it got out of view but we are hoping we have a little better luck this weekend.

Heck yeah I'm going, I've put over 62 hours in the stand bowhunting.  My place is damn prime for rifle season, taking over 50 yard shots with my bow is a lot out of my comfort range and I have no trees out there thick enough to move my set.  Got my eyes on a few, a 10 and a 12 keep popping around, hope they stick around a bit longer, slick heads are a dime a dozen at my place.  Hunting horns this year.

I've done zero scouting but I'm going to be sitting at the in-laws' place Saturday. Just replaced a bunch of gear that needed it and visited Parma to check zero on my POS .270 ... still a shooter. Tomorrow I'll de-scent all the gear that's been in boxes for way too damn long.

Me too.  I have my 6.5 Grendel ready.  I am lucky, opening day in Missouri is in two days, then I go down to Oklahoma where opening day is next Saturday.

I've had too much crap going on to get much bowhunting done, but I'm psyched to sling some lead with the wife.  She's using the M4gery with 55 gr. Z-Max handloads and I'm shooting my old 700 dirty ott six with my 165 gr. SST loads.

I took two days off so I'm off from Friday before opening day until next Friday. Hopefully I get a couple. Might get to shoot at some hogs with my dad which could be a lot of fun.

Hubby got a nice big doe a few weeks ago with his bow (first bow kill!), I haven't had such luck. Had 3 does pass my stand but I misjudged the distance so I never took a shot. Had a big 8 come close but not close enough. Hoping he survives rifle season and comes back. I don't have any opportunity to rifle hunt this year but I'll be back out with my bow soon. Instead, Im sending the man out to rifle camp this year while I tend to the homestead ;) Good luck to those of you going out!

Think I have everything ready for the morning.

Went by Wally world after work to grab some orange. Probably 20 people inline to get tags .

Using my 6.5 Creedmoor.

140gr Nosler Accubonds (white tip)

41.5gr H4350 2.810

210M

Hornady virgin brass.

Rifle is a built by yours truly. Rainier Arms Ultramatch barrel, Vortex HST 6-24x50. Geissele National Match trigger.

I am 28, have hunted deer off and on since I was 11. I have NEVER taken a buck so I hope this year that will change. I have only ever seen one buck while hunting and that was when I was probably 15-16. He was in hot pursuit of a doe and went right under my stand. What a rush that was.

Never fails that every damn time I get in the blind on opening morning my stomach goes apeshit and have to bee line it back to the truck. Gonna figure out a way to install a crapper in here

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to go this weekend. Wasn't prepared. I had a small window of time this morning and decided before I went out I was going to bust the first one I saw. Grabbed a box of fusions and my coyote rifle this morning and this is the result. Not big but it'll eat well.

Well I saw nothing but a big ol' fat coon. My youngest brother killed a BB this morning though. Grilled backstrap for lunch was mighty tasty!

Passed up on three does this morning while walking to a new position. I was on a forestry road when we our paths crossed so I didn't take a shot, wasn't sure if it was legal. Would have been to easy too, I saw them first at about 35 yards. Crouched down in the road and hoped they wouldn't see me. The leader looked me square in the eyes for a few seconds, let out a yelp, and they were gone.

Paris was in the back of my mind most of the morning and today though .

Don't know how to post photo but shot a 10 point with 19" inside spread. Saw him chasing a doe at 6:45 this morning... could not get a count of his points until he stopped on the opposite ridge and then he had a bunch of limbs screening him that  didn't offer a very good shot but while he was climbing the ridge I could see that he had a good spread.
About 3:00 he came back on about the same track but the light was better and I was able to slip one through a gap in the limbs when he paused... bang-flop, 30-06 700 core-lokt around 150 yards.
Saw 6 other little bucks and 2 does and 1 yote...numbers are really down from what I had just a few years ago.

Past on a 3 year old 8 point that was drinking out of the pond at 30 yards, worked his way up to my brothers blind and he shot him. Seen some doe and a good sized 10 point I've been after for a few years, couldn't get a bead on him.  Had an unusual amount of traffic on our road, all different cars, I'm thinking the neighbors are cooking meth.

Sat out in the miserable weather all day and didn't see shit, only heard a 3 shot volley at about 8:30 this morning.  The deer were on lock down today, good thing I took most of the week off to hunt.

Yet again another 2 shitty days in a row, the wind is fucking retarded out here. The weather is definitely testing my will

Jumped a few deer up the ridge on my way to my spot Sunday morning, sat out there until dark and didn't see anything else. Yesterday, it rained all day but I still got out at 3pm and again, nothing. Today I go back to work, and wouldn't ya know it, the temperature has fallen and the deer are probably starting to move more. I'll either have to get my lazy ass out of bed in the mornings (hard to do working 2nd shift), or wait until Saturday to hunt again.

In the meantime, I went ahead and put an Eotech on my "Alternative Methods" pistol!

For 223:

65 grain Sierra Gameking
25.4 gr TAC
Remington 7 1/2 primer
LC brass

For .308

180 grain Sierra Gameking
42 gr IMR 4064

My boy used the first in his AR to shoot a button on opening day. Right at 100 yards. DRT. We've killed at least a half dozen deer with it in the last few years and all but one didn't go more than 10 yards.

Headed back up tomorrow morning for a long weekend.

Gets about 2650fps out of my 700, which for where I hunt is plenty.  Very light recoiling load, also.

Have seen 1 buck, unsure on head gear, only saw him for about 2 seconds.  Seen two antlerless deer twice, but two were very small, didn't get a good look at the other two as they were running as I walked into my stand.  Didn't go out this evening, but the wind was rocking me to sleep in my stand, so a 30 pointer could have walked past the stand this morning.  Tomorrow is another day.
