What would a 5 gallon bucket full of once fired .223 brass be worth?

It depends on the headstamp, but (depending on how full) a 5 gallon bucket holds about 3300 to 3700 cases.  Based on todays prices, I'd say about $225 to $275 depending on the brand.

If it is A-Merc, berdan primed or steel; it's scrap value only.

If you don't feel like counting them, $6 / lb is in the neighborhood of the going rate for lake city brass.

Its almost entirely Lake City 193 brass. Just weighed it, 50.8 lbs including the bucket.

if we were to say 49 pounds even for the brass...

at about 74 cases per pound.....

that gives you 3626 cases.

Wideners had LC priced at $79 per 1000.... at that price it'd be about $286.

So where would be a good place to unload this brass? I thought about posting in the EE, but I really am not interested in fooling around with shipping this.

I just bought 3 1/2 tons this week, thankfully, the price is going down! if you figure 73 per pound at .06 a piece retail, you're looking at about $220 based on your weight.

where ya at? if it's the east side I might be in for half of it if you want to split it. I can't afford the whole bucket right now lol

This thread has been quite informative.

I've been filling a bucket with assorted 5.56/.223 and 9mm brass. Only about 1/4 full so far, but feels pretty heavy!

Instead of selling, I told myself when I filled up bucket I will invest in reloading!

I'm in the Columbia/Boone County area.
I had intended to start reloading as well, but I just don't have the space for it right now. One day when I have an actual house and not a condo.
