I asked this question on another board and got dressed down, spanked, and locked out of my thread...

Basically,, I am trying to find out if there is any training facilities, fairly local, that someone has been too and found reputable?
I am more interested in precision rifle,,, maybe a carbine type course.
Forgive me if this question is silly or aggrevating to anyone......  I just need a place to start.
I have a LMT that I am wanting to stretch out and possibly learn a few pointers while at it...
Can someone help a guy out?

Thanks all,
MO Boy

There's a place in Potosi that's supposed to have decent carbine & precision rifle courses.

Advanced Precision or something like that.

I've not been to his carbine class but the facility and quality of training is top notch, he has a passion for self defense and his classes are taught as such. He's not a gamer and quite a no nonsense kind of guy. He says he don't teach you how to shoot a gun he teaches you how to fight with a gun. In fact when you roll up to his place he has "Ozark Gun Fighting School" in large letters on the main building.
I think his carbine class goes to 300yds.
I've taken some pistol stuff from him and he's a great instructor, some find him a little abrasive but if you go in with open mind and a humble attitude you'll walk away having learned a lot.

Other than that SRT group has a urban rifle class that gets out to 200yds.

I don't think this class gets out to much distance but the guy that runs this place top notch human being.

DVC also has some stuff. I took a class there last year and it only went to 25yds, but over all was a pretty good class, I do wish I had spent the extra and went to APT but no point in crying over spilled milk right.

Larry Vickers also come to town every now and then but It don't look like he's coming this year.

Hope this helps.

This summer I am considering putting on a very small precision rifle course.  It will start off very basic, but be challenging to the decent marksman.  I am planning this for a piece of property in the middle of Kansas and to be a two day course with lodging available on site if needed.  As soon as I work out the details, I will let the MO HTF know.

I'd be interested in this depending on the price.  I have someone else that would probably be interested as well.

Whoever you pick make sure they have a resume to back up what they are teaching.  There are ALOT of people "teaching" classes now that have no real world expirerence.
Avoid them at all costs. Watching youtube videos and getting training from other people who have never been there and done that does not a trainer make.

Also there are a lot of "Instructors" with Real World Experience that are not particularly good instructors...
their experience doesn't mean a lot if they can't teach it.

Be sure your personal experience is up to what you will be learning too.
if you have only ever shot on a square range or flat range or maybe a couple "Three Gun" comps
you may not be up to the "High Speed" training that you desire.

^ well put

Perfect example is yeager d-bag down at tactical response. He hasnt really done shit but has a 20 page long resume. Look into it and get some reviews on a trainer before you go, google is your friend.

If you're on the right hand side of the state, Ultimate Defense runs carbine classes at least once a quarter.  Considering the number of AR's they've moved as of late, I'd be surprised if they don't offer it again soon.

Very interested. However will this be a bolt action long range type of course or an AR15 type of course?

This would be a long range precision course.  Bolt guns or AR-10 type rifles.  You could conceivably take the course with an AR-15 with heavier ammo, but hitting some of the farther targets might be a challenge.  As far as experience, most of you know me as a competitive shooter.  I do not claim to be a tactical instructor at all.  I compete in pistol, 3 gun, and precision rifle.  I have learned from some of the best in all three areas.  I am not teaching advanced technique or tactical style.  I am teaching how to shoot at long ranges.  Proper techniques to be able to consistently hit the target at range.  How to read the wind, and how ballistics affects your shot.  I will have other instructors there that travel the US putting on classes and matches across the country.  The class would be a two day class basically teaching you what you need to know to shoot a long range type match.  I am figuring around $200 per person for the weekend and that would include lodging for Saturday night.  You would need to provide your own food and drink.  The property is very large and we can present several different "stages" of shooting.  We will go from basic zeroing your rifle and scope to shooting out past 1400yds.  You would need a rifle capable of shooting MOA (1" at 100yds) or better, a scope that has adjustable turrets or at the very least some sort of ranging reticle and approximately 250 rounds of ammunition.  Details will get sorted out in the next month or two.  I am looking at maybe 8-12 shooters for the class.
