Took Palmetto forever to ship it but it arrived today.  Tomorrow it gets cleaned.  Saturday it gets broken in.

nice thought about getting an AK myself, but decided to get a better trigger and muzzle brake for my AR instead. I have ammo and mags already for it so thought it'd be a better investment at the moment. I am jealous though!

Hope you enjoy it. Yugoslavia makes the Cadillac of AK world (Quality parts and built like a tank). I built one and later sold it though because the cheek weld made it feel like I was getting punched in the cheek bone everytime I shot it.  Made it to the range about 4 or 5 times before I realized it was no fun to shoot and even though it was very quality parts, I had other AKs that will always get picked first.

If you decide you love it and want to get ride of the goofy rail on the top cover, let me know. If you can't take off the rail, I should have a extra dust cover or 2 in my parts bin that will fit the Yugo.

This stock is so much better than any AK stock I've ever shouldered before.  Reminds me of my Remmy 700 stock.

I'ld love to get rid of the rail.  Looks like it's pinned and tacked on.

Apparently a Yugo RPK dust cover will work on this one.

I had a quick-release Nc Star scope sitting in a parts box.  I threw it on the dust cover and dropped it into my lead sled.  I aimed it at a coffee cup 12 feet away.  Reticle rocked from one side of the cup to the other.

So... at 100 yards that would be what... about 40 feet?  Maybe it's designed for full auto. Ha!

Best use I could think of for it was a off angle flashlight mount, hanging it off the left side.

Mine was a Yugo M70.
I don't think I noticed the face slap until I shot it. It could be that I have a huge head though
This is it before having it hot blued.

The top cover should fit yours. If you're in the Warrensburg area some time let me know I'll dig it out and give it to you.

I could see that... I've cheeked it tons of course.  I few times I noticed I was pulling up off the stock just slightly to line the sights. That could result in loose teeth.

I considered picking up that same model myself.  Let us know how it shoots.

Get rid of the ugly black pistol grip and get a wood one that matches. Also get rid of the rail on the cover.

I'm not a big fan of the lighter wood anyhow.  Will probably try to strip it down and refinish it at some point.  There are some spots where it could use some sanding and fitting anyhow.

I have big hands and like a grip with good traction so a wood or bakelite grip won't be going on this one.  This grip isn't awful but it's a bit blocky.

Getting ready to head up and tear it down and clean all the nasty packing oil off off of it.  Hoping to get out to shoot it tomorrow.

Good god!  Took the rifle out for the first time today and all 3 of us felt like we went out sparing, not shooting.  I thought while dry firing it I was lifting to get a sight picture, but I think now I was squashing down in an unnatural way.  Is this stock setup to use a scope? Doesn't seem setup for irons.  I see a sander in this thing's future.

I am VERY interested in a replacement dust cover.

We got one of these in the other day for stock, and I have to say that I'm impressed with it.   The stock doesn't seem like it would beat up anyone, and I like the longer length.

Length of pull and recoil pad is fantastic.  It's the cheek weld that is horrible. I think if you mounted a red dot on it, it would be about perfect.  I think I'm going to look for an M70 stock for it.

Interesting?  I'll have to check it out again tomorrow, and try to imagine shooting it.  I'll have to compare it to the other AK's in the shop, see if I can understand what your saying about the stock.  I'm guessing I probably won't understand unless I shoot one though.

Evilbetty,

Now you see what I was talking about. Mine was a M70 which is basically the same thing you have there. Yours is just the export version. The stock should have the same lines. I have never seen a M70 mounted with a scope or optic in the original war photos. I don’t think they ever came with a scope mount on them.  The only scoped Yugo rifles I remember seeing were the M76 and some Yugo SKSs. You can get a scope mount installed on there its just more $

If it were me I’d move it rather than sanding down the stock trying to make it fun to shoot. Then I’d pick up an Arsenal 107-CR. (bottom one in the picture, Top ugly one is the wifes JohnDeere green 74)

I’ve seen them go for $900 lately. You get a lot more gun for your money. Especially if you consider SBRing it later on. just my $.02

Nice looking guns!

Arsenal's were always on my short list... they were just always too expensive, and I wanted a wood AK.  Nothing against plastic furniture but I reserve that treatment for my AR's.

I went this route because I wanted to have a more authentic AK and save a little money.  Now it looks like I'm going to have to drop some funks on a M76 stock, or Ironwood set, and an aftermarket scope rail... just in case.

Shows they have M76 stocks in stock

Whats your finish? Blued or painted. I should have an extra top cover for you. No dents that I recall just needs refinished to match the rifle.

I can go wood or poly. All depends on what it originally came with. I don't really like to switch them up too often.

Sweet!  No pic for the stocks.  Do those have a number carved in the side of them?

Hmmm... I'm going to have go to look.  I want to say painted black, but I'm not 100% all of a sudden.

From the pictures I've seen most original M76 stocks seem to have the serial # stamped into them. I'd call and ask.
