I needed keep myself and my boy out of the wifes hair for awhile so we headed up to the fun show at the fair grounds on Saturday. Parking was a zoo! Between the show, dollar day at the zoo, and a horse show going on it was a mess. Thankfully traffic moved, but slowly, and everyone was cool headed.
On to the show....My budget was wrecked by some unexpected car repairs and some school stuff for my daughter so I would have to be content to browse and price shop a bit. I was on the hunt for a XD9 sub compact and wanted to see if I could find anything sharper than retail. I came across one that was well worn for $399 and another in near new condition for $479. Nothing sharp enough to make me run out and raid the rainy day fund though. Ammo ran the gambit from retail or higher to comparable to online after shipping. One booth that caught my eye was Ammo-Kan. Anyone have feed back on them? Magazine prices fell between a little better the "meh" to "they have got to be kidding". Thermold 20rd for $10? Come on guys, CDNN has been giving them away. GI mags seemed to run from $10 for some pretty worn stuff to low teens. I found some assorted colored Okay that netted out to $8 a piece that I should have grabbed. MagPul stuff ran at or above retail at most every place I looked. Summary....It got me out of the house with my boy. He was able to see a lot of different firearms and ask lots of questions. I walked out without buying a single thing. Price of admission $10....time with my boy passing on a passion for the shooting sports....priceless. |
| I was there all weekend. Setup right across from concession window. Got to hang with some friends and bought and sold a few things. A lot of high priced stuff on the tables and walking around. Gen 2 g19 for $500! Bodyguard .380's for $420.. Gen 4 g17 for $700. Overall I had a good time hangin. |

I used to go for the CMMG booth. It's the first place I ever held a PS90 or FS2000. They used to bring really cool guns. Seems like the last couple of times I've gone it's been all hunting rifles and run of the mill AR-15s.
The optics selection last time I went was also entirely cheap stuff. I guess the instant gratification giggles of a gun show are ruined by the NFA wait for SBRs and such, but I would like to see more of those. Thanks, Little_bo |
| Scored some small pistol primers at a reasonable price in side room from Mr. Friendly and a box of Hornady HP bullets. SP are getting real scarce it would appear. Got two Brownell's AR mags for $12 new. Got some 00 buck I need for a shoot coming up and a box of 4 buck cause I think it is the coolest. Good time. |

I believe CMMG doesn't do shows anymore. They use to hit all the shows over here and word starting getting out they were done with them to focus on other things. Not sure if true but I haven't seen them at a show in a long time. You're pretty much correct from what I've been told by a reputable source |
