I drove an hour and a half today to pick up a firearm and got delayed!  This never happens when I'm ten minutes from my house.  I've had four or five transfers in the past year or so and have sailed right through but not today when I'm eighty something miles away.  They must be eating too much BBQ today.

On a side note, I saw Trent Burns on the highway this morning.  Looked like you were going to ARPC.

as for it being a Holiday Weekend I do not call this in to an actual person I use the NICS Online System and no person is involved in that. That is one reason why I do not call this in and use the Online feature.

Pretty slick the way that works...

Makes me wonder why anyone would do it the old way...

Also, makes me wonder, doesn't someone on the other end have to hit the Big Red or Green button though??? Or does a computer make the decision to allow, deny or delay???
BTW, I'm annoyed with the NICS system too...  I finally converted a Co-worker into a shooter (or a hand gun buyer at least) and he get delayed on purchasing a S&W 9mm...

Him, his son and myself went shooting today...  Neither of them had shot much of anything so I took two ARs, 12" and 16", 2 Glocks 9mm and .45, and two .22s a Henry Lever and a 10/22 with Bull Barrel and Scope...

I 1st went over some gun saftey rules, then spent some time showing them how to hold and handle each firearm, before cutting them loose..   Started them on the .22s and worked up..

Both had a good time and what to know when we can go back...

this what you have to do

UPIN #

You just call the FBI # 1-877-324-6427 and let it go till someone picks up and ask for customer service for UPIN info.

They will take your info and mail you a package to fill out and a finger print card to take to your local sherriffs office to
be printed and make sure that office put their stamp on it or its no good.

You send the paperwork and finger prints after making sure you signed the back of your paperwork so they can process it and it can take 30 to 150 days depending on the individual.

More fingerprints. HAHA. If they are keeping them the .gov has about 15 sets of mine so far. What a waste of paperwork to have to resubmit something that they have multiple times over.

You got a delay or a "requires further review"? In other words did the person calling it in stay on the line until they got a final response, or did the call end and the FBI call back 10 minutes later?

The further review thing is routine. A 10 minute delay probably just means they were having computer issues (or the operator needed to go take a dump . . . ). I had a customer get a delay a couple of weeks ago, but the operator told me it was a computer problem on their end. She called me back about 30 minutes later.

Hmm never EVER had a delay, in fact it comes back so fast that the examiner generally tells the "What? You havent' given it to him yet? Why not?

Sheriff's deputy visited the new house the other day, Neighbor's ADT went off and they found the front door open.
Nothing happened but he followed up with the neighbors to see what might have happened.
(neighbors were not home)
So he comes up, asks if he can come in and tells that should keep doors locked and cars locked, and that even way out here stuff happens.
He actually says "best thing to do is just shoot em"

Then... he sees it... big as life there it is perched on the top of the closet in the living room...

the 1919, with ammocan, tripod and a belt of dummy ammo hanging from the feed tray...
He laughed and said "That ought to do it!"

Then he left saying "Have a good day!"

I assume you meant e4473 (I goggled e4373 thinkin maybe it was one of the NFA forms and it kept coming up with the 4473), but yea I think the online one I was talking about is the same thing...

They just key in all the goods, click submit and a few seconds to a few mins later the screen shows the status and an approval # if there is one that I guess the FFL. puts on their copy...

The thing I don't get, the e4473 was from what I can tell was supposed to eliminate paper (use consumption and storage)...

Quoted://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Form_4473:

In response to the Government Paperwork Elimination Act (GPEA),
Public L. No 105-277, signed in 1999, and based upon requests from the
firearms industry, the ATF has developed the e-Form 4473 to assist in
the proper completion of the Federal Firearms Transaction Record (ATF
Form 4473). The ATF eForm 4473 is designed to help eliminate errors in
completing Form 4473 for both the firearm purchaser and the Federal Firearms License
(FFL) holding seller. The eForm 4473 is provided to the public,
including major retailers, free of charge via the ATF eForm web site.
ATF eForm 4473 is a downloadable application that runs locally on the
FFL's computer and supports both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. (see "External links" section below)

However, the way I understand it, the FFL has to retain a paper copy of the FFL for like 20 years for every transaction completed and like 5 years or so for every one denied...  Just guessing on those lengths of time, but you get the idea..

If they still have to keep all the forms, then they are not really reducing the paper use much...

yes the NICS e-check is just an online way to get it processed. Rather than calling you do it via a secure web page. You will have to set this up with them and after they approve your paperwork you are ready to go. You will have to use the same computer to do this as you will get a key that is associated with your computer. I like this much better. If you want some info on it send me a IM and I can provide you with what you need to do.

I do not use the e4473 application I use the paper type for that. While they file out this I do my thing speeds up the process in my opinion

Nope, Villa Park, IL at that point.  Didn't cross the Mississippi and get a shorter DL number until '07. I blame that for why I am so far behind on my gun purchases...stupid Illinois.... lol

Oddly enough... I get delayed EVERY time I put my SSN on the form.

If I just run it without it... Goes through just fine.

If I run with it... They delay and call back usually 1-2 days later with a proceed.

Weird.

Next 4473 I fill out I'm leaving mine off just to see.

Am I the only one that puts his SSN on the 4473?

Nope. I have heard it helps with not getting denied.

Was delayed again today... 3rd firearms I've bought since moving to MO so now I'm 3 for 3 at getting delayed.

Also going to NOT put my SSN on the form next time and see if that helps.
