I've always wanted a HiPower, but the opportunity never presented itself until now. I am the proud owner of a 1973 "C" series.

and what the 75 was based on.......a true classic, and as viable today as in 1935

I have a Browning Hi-Power and it has a g*d awful trigger. One day I might have the magazine safety removed to see if that improves the the feel of the trigger. It still is one of my favorite all time pistols because it is the grandfather of the hi-cap wonder nines...

Removing mag release alone is little relief.  There is a cure. Trigger can be made very 1911ish. Labor intensive, requires refinishing pistol or at least slide when done.. For now I recommend Cylinder & Slide. Someday I will be set up for Hi-Power trigger work. With trigger work done Hi-Power is second to none for 9mm.

How the slide relates to the trigger pull on a HP?

Has it been refinisher?  I thought they were blued.  I have had one 74 hi-power and one FEG clone.  I miss both of them.

Part I'm  refering to is Browning Hi-Power light trigger pull sear lever made by C&S. MidwayUSA product number 810-988.

It's been discontinued by C&S.

C&S lever changed leverage by repositioning pivot point on lever. Requiring slide be drilled to accomodate new pin point. Done right old hole welded closed and serrations cut over weld. Mine has been done.

All need happen now is finish blending metal, bead blast matte for black or hard chrome.

Have custom set of grips made by Haken Pek.

So, I guess I won't need to set mill up for that job unless intending to manufacture lever for myself.

Doubtful I will, there never has been demand because of labor intensive costs.

Yep, someone parkerized the gun.  Too bad, but we don't know its condition before, either, so that might be an improvement.  Hurts the value, however.

My BHP is a late 1980's or early pistol and is factory parkerized with black plastic grips. It looks like the one in bjtraz's pictures except for the grips.

That's right, there were several models in the 80's with parkerizing, paint, or a mix.  I owned a GP that was painted except for the slide extension which was parked.  Later GP's were all parked, a helluva thing for an otherwise premium pistol.

I've never seen a C series gun that was parkerized (I own only two).  Who knows, there might be some ordered for a police department somewhere that wanted the guns as cheap as possible, there are lots of Browning guns around that were never cataloged.

Removed the mag safety from my Israeli FN. Didn't notice any change in trigger pull.
However, it's nice to able to lower the hammer w/o needing a spare empty mag.

I didn't take the grips off or take out the mag release when I did mine.

odd my pull is super smooth though that could have something with having over 4000+ rounds through it even with only 10rd mags you can shoot a lot in ~20 years and as long as my dad had the gun before me and with me I've never seen any malfunction in that time 1 solid gun

Use over time will polish parts with wear. Won't do a thing for amount of creep or take up. Take-up is still there and creep a little smotther with wear and age..

Generation hand me down Hi-Powers are great heirlooms.

I had an SFS in 9mm that had a great trigger with the mag. disconnect in place. I also had a .40 S&W with what felt like an 8 lb. trigger. Should have kept the 9mm. It shot very well. Best, Rob

Yeah, best I can figure is someone parked it before me. I hold no ill will as it is going to be a shooter .

Why pay someone to do it?  It takes all of 15 minutes to do it yourself.

Also, I love both of my BHPs.  One is an inherited captain's model and the other is a Practical that's the carry gun.

Take a close look at the slide stop and I'm betting I know why that pistol is now parkerized.  Deep rust.
