Looking for AR-15 or M&P armorer's classes in the KCMO area.

There was a nice AR-15 armorers class last year in STL but it was law enforcement only.  Only M&P ones I have seen are way too far away.

I'll see what I can do to put one together with Sully.

There was an ar-15 class put on by Armalite last year at St. Louis County . County didn't care, if it was OK with Armalite, it's OK with them––––––––––A civilian took the class. I work secondary for a store, and the asst manager wanted the class. I called Armalite and asked if it was OK. They said it was fine. So you might want to check if it is really "closed". Some classes are that agency only, some are leo only, and some are open, but using police rooms for class.

This is a 2-Day course.  We are working on putting this together.  I have listed below a copy of the course notice.

AR-15 / M-16 / M-4 ARMORING COURSE

When:  This is a two day course  (2-day).  The date is to be scheduled.

Where: KCMO

Cost: $375

SLR15 Grail in the SPEER GOLD DOT RIFLE AMMO AD

SLR15 Rifles has been featured in SWAT Magazine, Guns & Ammo Magazine Tactical Guns & Gear Annual, Shooting Times, Gun Digest, Guns & Weapons For Law Enforcement Magazine, and Precision Rifle Magazine.  Our Armoring Course has been taught for a decade all over the country, and was reviewed in SWAT Magazine.  This course covers all variants of the AR-15/M16/M-4 weapons system with 2-days of hands on training which goes far beyond basic disassembly & reassembly.

Here is a brief overview of what is covered and I can tell you it is a very busy hands on full 2-days of Armoring:
History of the Weapon
Cycles of Function
General Disassembly & Assembly
Identification of Common Problems and Parts
Nomenclature
Identification of Group Components
Semi, Burst, and Full Auto Parts and Conversions
Complete Armoring Disassembly / Assembly
Barrel Replacement
Cleaning and Maintenance
Sight and Distance Considerations
Ballistic Issues
Barrel Twist, Length, and Choices
Gas System
Parts Interchangability, including Brands
Headspace
Firing Pin Protrusion
Trigger Jobs
Chamber Inspection and Polishing
Accessories and Customizing
Tool Options and Selection
Iron Sights (A1/A2/A3) Disassembly/Reassembly
Optics
SOP/MOD Accessories and Additions
Etc

All tools, manuals, and anything else that is necessary is supplied. We will provide rifles with prior arrangements so we know how many to bring. We prefer that students bring their own weapon systems to get familiar with their own configuration and modifications, plus this allows the time for a good thorough cleaning and inspection, plus we can replace and repair any parts necessary. This is a very intensive course that we cover in 2-days, so be prepared to get a lot of hands on knowledge.

If anyone would like this course in their area, please contact us to make arrangements about getting it coordinated, all we need is a suitable classroom for a course and we will be there, the host gets a minimum of 2 complimentary spots.

Other Armoring Courses we offer:
M14/M1A Rifle Armoring
Precision/Sniper Rifle Armoring
Law Enforcement Submachine Gun Armoring
Law Enforcement Shotgun Armoring
1911 Pistol Armorer
AR-15 / M-16 / M-4 Advanced Armorer

$375! Ouch.
How would we benefit from this class? Not asking to sound rude, but it seems like most of us already know 75% of this.

Is this mostly a gunshop/LE kind of thing? As in not for the average everyday gun guy...

Thanks! I would be interested either way.

Not to sound rude back but I always hear this.
This is an ARMORER's COURSE not a tinker in the garage course.
Most of us DON'T know how to do this work properly.
Trust me on this I see/hear it all the time.
More firearms have been ruined by people who THINK they know 75% of what they are doing.

Greg Sullivan (SULLY) is well respected in the field, that is why I went to him to get the course setup.
There are a few courses out there
Armalite, Colt (if you are LE or MIL), Defensive Edge, Long Mountain Outfitters, Blackheart etc.
All run about the same money. NOT all will come to you.

This course also gets a certificate.
This type of course is for those who want to expand their knowledge and really want to KNOW what they are doing not just what they heard on the internet.
I attend training with an open mind to learn
If you THINK you know 75% of this and want to have that attitude you probably should not attend.
Have you EVER had a class of this type?
As an industry professional I like this type of course.
I spent $275 on a two day TROUBLESHOOTING course by another well respected instructor.
BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW, most don't need an armorer's course, the Troubleshooter will get most folks by.
If you want to actually WORK on weaponry then you NEED an armorer's course and it looks good on a professional resume'
to say "I am a certified armorer"

Someone asked for an ARMORER's COURSE so I am putting one together.
I will post dates and get funds at that point.

[#16]
Been to many, many armor's courses.  While I don't know those who are offering the class or the quality of their presentation, I can tell you that a "certified" armor's course will easily cost you $350 or more.  Last year I spent over $4000 just to ensure myself and other dept. armorers were up to date on our certs.

Wanting to learn about the mechanics of a gun is not cheap.

LOL...

True enough...

I'm easy. MOST weekends will work. As long as I have 2 weeks or so notice.

I'll be up for this once I get my AR built.

OK here is what we have at this time.
Let me know if this works or not.
We need 10 to fill the class but more will be accomodated if necessary.
10 will be easy at my residence, anything more say over 12 I will have to arrange a different location.

July 21&22 is the first weekend that Sully has available.

Let me know if this works or what,

We will have to start taking money soon if this works to hold seats.

LMAO... Just my luck... Thats the ONLY "slot" of time that would not work for me.

I'll be in Vegas for vacation sometime in July... Still don't have a set date... Except for July.

Push it to the first week in August or something... And I'm in for sure.

50% - Full...
re-fundable in full until two weeks prior.

Will not be changing dates unless there is a majority who would do better with a different date.

So would a weekday time work better?
This is the first weekend.

I'm about 60% yes on being in..... Speaking for me here but a weekday class would work better for me as my weekends are usually packed. I do like how far out this is.

I will be upgraded to a dead-solid Maybe after I check in with my wife.  Great price, good timeframe, should have my AR built by then as well.  Plus, we haven't been to KC yet.

Date is great except it's the same weekend as two 3-gun matches.  I'll get over it.

What PayPal address are we sending the $188 - $375 to, and what other information do you need in the payment comment section?

if you have not reserved a slot and want one hurry the hell up as we are less then 10 weeks out and so far Sully has no funds.
