Gonna have another shoot out at our place south of Excelsior Springs in the country.
Steel targets will be placed from about 200 yards out to 850-865 yards. Terrain is flat and going to try to stagger the targets a little better so everyone can see and know the distances to each target as they transition from left to right from target to target. IM me if you need directions. If anyone has a chronograph I could use for a few shots, I would greatly appreciate the chance to chrono a few 168gr and a few 175gr FGMM rounds. |

This is relevant to my interests..... You think an 8.25" 5.45x39 will reach 865? Haha I just bullet flighted it assuming 2200 fps (7N6 is actually in the database) and it comes out to -61.5 MOA or -557.3 inches with a 100 yard zero. I hope to make it. I played with 220gr Remington 300BLK last weekend at 400 yards....took 3 shots, but hit a 14" square gong. Was almost 300" of drop, no mildot on the DMS1 scope, so I used the roughly 6' tall post next to the target as a reference for height to make phantom holds in the air. It can be done! |

I wanna play. 200-300m would probably be the max with what I have. You can do better than that......I was pegging steel at 450 with my 16" AR and have made consistent hits to 400 with my 556 SBR (12.7") and 300BLK (8") "YOU CAN DO EEET" You're not a dirty KU fan are ya? Last time I saw you it was at MetalMans shoot a LONG time ago, in Kansas, the taint of the Midwest.

My friend Ryan and I will be there again. We' ll bring a couple steel targets, chronograph, and usual equipment. This time I'll have a couple more rifles and more ammo to let others shoot and get them addicted to long range shooting. If there's anything else we can bring, just let me know.
Bill Oh and I'll be sure to bring Ryan's suppressor this time. Damn my ears and face still hurt...lol |

Im not a safety Nazi but someone going to be keeping a look out for stupidity? How many guys can be on the line at one time? Field is probably 100 yards acrossed. Maybe 50-75 people, but there would be alot of gong ringing and difficult to tell who is shooting. I'm thinking 20 or so would show up at the most. Common sense typically prevails. We set a firing line, everyone stay behind that line, load gun once ON the line (except for open/concealed carry of course), unload gun and lock bolt backwhen leaving the firing line. When we go down range to check paper targets or repaint steel to see fresh hits (especially at LONG distances), wouldnt be a bad idea to have everyone walk the line to make sure bolts are locked back, mags removed, and safeties on safe before heading downrange. I would ask that if you are bringing someone with you, STAY with them. No matter how well you think you know them and how much you want to wonder around and say hi to everyone....its assumptions like "my college educated friend surely understands the importance of not pointing a loaded weapon at someone's kid"......well, you get the idea. I will sat this tho....I will probably have to yelp at everyone before we get started shooting and get an oral confirmation (not what you are hoping for Eric!) that everyone understands that THEY own every bullet that leaves their muzzle, the rules for firearms safety have to be followed or someone may be asked to leave, and so on. Pretty standard stuff. Everyone was great last time and we didn't have any issues. I'm expecting alot of the same people are coming back with some additional people as well. An unrelated side note.....we are in an unplanted soybean field...so plan accordingly! Bass_Ackwards and his friend had a great idea that I may just have to steal and use for myself. They brought a tarp to keep things dry, then put a scrap peice of carpet on top of it to go prone on. I was using a Midway shooting mat that worked fine, but their setup looked alot more comfortable and had a ton more room even with two shooters on it at the same time. If anyone has a truck with a bed we could put a sheet of drywall in, I think I have a partial sheet of drywall we could put behind the 865 yard target to help acquire it a little better in scopes and better see any misses at that distance. Would take no more than a minute to load it up and drive about 2 miles to the field, so if you want to volunteer PM me and I'll have ya meet me around 11:45 at the house to load it up. |

What time are we getting together on Sunday? How far is this from your place? What is the plan and what should I bring? Noon to 1 for meeting up/shooting. Only about 2-3 miles at the most. Simple directions from the house, and ill email you some simple directions. Plan is to shoot and hit targets. Bring guns. Bring ammo if you wish to shoot those guns. Bring scope if you want to shoot some distance. Bring wife so someone from your car can hit a target.
I was thinking I should go ahead and mention it here.....but if everyone wants to shoot until around 4:30 or so, we could then make a short drive to the Wabash BBQ where everyone can experience some GOOD BBQ! |

As long as he doesn't bring out any of the .308 semi-autos to demo I should be fine, thats the urge I am really trying to avoid right now... |
