One of my new years resolutions this year is that I am going to try and get a little more involved in preserving our 2nd amendment rights.  I'm a member of the NRA.....what other organizations are strong pro gun, and worth supporting? I would like some opinions here. I figure this site is the best place to get the answer I'm looking for.

Any on the state level would be of interest as well.

Thanks!

I think that's a great resolution. If only more of us (myself included) were more willing to let our voices be heard on 2nd ammendment issues. I'm in the same boat as you as far as what other organizations besides the NRA to support. If anyone has any suggestions I'd like to know also.

The one that comes to mind in MO is Missouri Sport Shooting Association they are the state NRA affiliate, and a CMP approved organization. They gobbled up MoCCW.org a year or two ago too if you remember that organization.

Other than that I am sure other people will be happy to provide some others.

If you live on the STL side, the NRA Annual meeting will be in STL April 12~15 and there are always looking for volunteers to help. Lots of opportunities, Store, Air Range, book signing etc. The NRA also usually has the opportunity to upgrade your membership.

If membership is more what you’re looking for:
Missouri Sport Shooting Association
Second Amendment Foundation
Jews For The Preservation of Firearms

Perhaps its competition you’re looking for
IDPA
USPSA
GSSF
Steel Challenge

Maybe Join a local Gun Club/Range
STL side
Arnold Rifle and Pistol
Top Gun Shooting Sports
Benchrest in Wright City MO
Sparta Shooing in IL
On Target
Metro Shooting Supply
Ultimate defense shooting range

Maybe Become a certified NRA Instructor

Take someone shooting  (take away the mystery)

Talk about your hobby (share your sport)

Lots of opportunities……..

There's a NRA Life Member drive going on in GD right now. If you haven't upped your mebership already.

Other than the NRA, especially in this election cycle, I will be making donations to politicians with strong 2A beliefs.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I will join a couple of the above mentioned organizations, and I am going to do my own little drive to sign friends up for the NRA

4H and FFA have shooting programs.  Mostly archery and trap shooting.

They can always use qualified coaches.
