are you going for light weight?  Check out the VTAC Extreme Battle Rail or check out my FAVORITE the DANIEL DEFENSE 12 FSP  look for either one use here on arfcoms EE

ETA:  The Spikes BAR is also bad ass, and if you can find one the SAR, can't WAIT to get my hands on of those to try out

ETAA:  Where are you located?

The Daniel Defense rails are smooth as butter. I've handled a few brands of rails and most have sharp corners and can be rough on your hands if you grab them without rail covers or gloves on. The DD rails have a radius on them while at the same time lock up tight. I did a lot of research on rails before I bought and it was down to Larue and the DD M4 rail. The Army Marksmenship Unit at Ft. Benning puts the DD M4 rail on the Squad Designated Marksmen Rifle SDM-R. That said alot to me and sealed the deal. I own two DD M4 12.0 rails and couldn't be happier.

I've got daniel defense rails on one of my ARs, I'm very happy with it. Some people said to go with the Omega rails by DD. They're very expensive. I got the 2 piece. It was (if I remember right) about $140.00. Plus you don't need to remove the barrel to mount it.

Midwest Industries makes some nice, super lightweight railed handguards in both free float and two piece styles...my current build will be sporting one of the free float models...reasonably priced as well...under $200 and within tenths of an ounce of some comparable Daniel Defense models

DD Omega is one of the lightest free-floating and mounts easily without any special tools or major mods to the gun.  I went with the shortest one in an attempt to keep the gun as light as possible.  It might run a bit over 200$.

I'm kinda partial to the LaRue Rails...  I've had Yankee Hill and looked at the DD rail... the LaRue is VERY solid and has a narrow diameter for a better fit in your hand.  Plus, it comes with a harder anondizing than most companies.  If you would like to see and hold one, let me know, I have a spare 11.0 one laying around.

+1 on the Larue rails...  You may get some Dillo dust too...

I recently got a Spike's BAR and it's also smooth on the edges. They had 'em at AIM was the only place I found them. I also have a Omega rail. I like the rails that span the whole distance to make it a continuous rail along the top.
