Has anyone here shot a Rock Island revolver?  I have a Rock Island 1911 and love it and was curious if anyone has any xp with the revolver?

Is that the Armscor .38 with a 2" or 4" bbl?  Reviews around the internet are decent.  Some have had problems with the cylinder overtraveling during fast double action or aggressive hammer cocking.   They sent them back and got new ones that worked great.

I'm thinking very seriously of ordering one.  Would like a .38 to show friends/family when they come to me and say "I wanna get a gun for the house", to compare to a .22, 9mm, .45acp, AR, 12 ga., etc.  It's the one thing I don't have an example of...

Since its mostly for show and tell, I don't want to spend a lot of $$ on it.  Need to save that for a new 20" varmint upper and optics!

I had one for a while. They're not bad for cheap guns. My cylinder was very tight so it was a little bit of a pain to get spent rounds out. It didn't group very well either, but for the price (I think I paid $140.00 new) I liked it. They are copies of the Colt Detective Specials. Although the parts are not interchangeable. I bought a cheap afternarket grip for a Colt and put it on the Armscor. I had to dremmel the hell out of it for it to fit.

These revolvers have absolutely nothing in common with the Colt Detective Special except an external resemblance.
Internally they're more like a Dan Wesson.

bit of a thread hijack,
I come from a time when a 38 spcl revlver was "the shit"
I still think so,
except now ammo is somewhat hard to come by.

Thats what I mean. They were made to look like the Colt.

Personally I'd spend a bit more on some quality.

I think these days even a Rossi 68 or CharterArms is better quality and not much more expensive.

The Armscor looks like a spraypaint finish and I have difficulty getting past that.
