Looks like I will be heading to the St. Louise area for a long weekend in mid to late May with the Famliy. Plan on bring my G27. This will be a week with the wife's Family. Be about a 10 hour road trip. I know my SD CCW is good in MO any places that I should know about that bans carry and or will have metal detectors? Any places to avoid or that are unsafe.
Thanks Rusty |

Avoid a large portion North St. Louis City and SOME areas of North St. Louis County and youll be fine.
Where are you planning on staying at what do you want to do while here? Restricted locations for carry can be found here.missouri CCW statute |

Just the usual fed buildings. Most stores have removed anti carry signs even then it is concealed.
I've noticed a lot of medical buildings have a no gun signs but by law they are not the legal ones. I do find it funny that people post signs just to get it out there but don't take the time to read the requirements. |

What about the zoo, anything like Six Flags stuff like that anything I need to worry about as far as leaving the gun in the car. I saw the list of places for no carry but it looks like I can still carry there just have to leave if asked?? Rusty |

It's a Federal Park building and a big No-No. On the grounds is fine. In the parking lots is fine. Just not in the Arch or the buildings or Grant's Farm.
As for the other locations the parking lots are fine. You run your own risk carrying in one of the list of 17. If discovered you will not be asked to leave cause you would be scarring the sheeple. The police will be called and you may end up with a trespassing charge. Not the way it is designed to work, but nothing ever is. Have a safe and enjoyable trip. |

Yes, St' Louis had a good zoo. Well worth going, and it's free entrance. Some of the stuff inside costs, like the Children's Zoo and the train, but the majority of it is free. Also, I've never seen a no-gun sign at the zoo, and I don't believe it meets the definition of an "amusement park" so it's good to carry in. Last time I was there, I personally witnessed a leopard very nearly escape when a little girl was "calling" it with what sounded like a wounded animal. This particular leopard was known for being able to leap over the moat and escape. When the little girl made the wounded animal noise, the leopard's ears immediately perked up, and I will never forget the look in its eyes when it locked onto her. There is no mistaking the intent behind the eyes of a predator. It got a running start and leapt over the moat, it's front paws actually caught momentarily on the lip on the near side, but it couldn't make it up the vertical wall, and fell back into the enclosure. "Look mommy, the big kitty likes me!" That mommy nearly jumped out of her skin. We were visiting with my wife's family, her brother and his wife. They were both surprised, especially after a nearby zoo worker told us that this leopard had a history of escaping that way. There was a bit of discussion, including her wondering what would have happened if the leopard had made it out. He said "that's why humans have guns," to which she replied "we don't have guns here." And then he pointed right at me and said "HE DOES!" There was a talk about discretion, and since this incident my sister-in-law hasn't questioned my choice to carry a gun. |

I did not know the arch was Fed good to know. Is there a Zoo? My kid loves them. If there is is it worth it? The zoo is excellent, as are the art museum and the history museum also in Forest Park. Take your kids to Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut Ins, located near Ironton. Take swim suits, too. You might go down to Sullivan one day for a float trip on the Meramec River. The section above the State Park is an easy float for inexperienced folks or little kids, and there are plenty of places to get out to swim on the way. Go on a week day to avoid the partiers. |

This whole statement is good to go. I'd like to add going to the history museum, Crown Candy (definitely bring your gun), and Mexican food at Cherokee and Ohio off 55.

My daughter works at the zoo in administration and reports of vehicle break-ins are a daily occurrence. The zoo is one of the worlds finest, but travel smart and keep everything out of sight. |

It's very possible that the zoo could be classified as an amusement park as they do have the train ride, the merry go round, and the 3d motion simulator. You never know what a prosecuter will do in a city that is anti-gun..... +1 on the city museum, it's a kids dream come true. |

+1 on the city museum, it's a kids dream come true. Even IF they could convince a prosecutor it was an amusement park... you would have to refuse to leave when confronted by an officer to even get a ticket. RSMO 571-107 2. Carrying of a concealed firearm in a location specified in subdivisions (1) to (17) of subsection 1 of this section by any individual who holds a concealed carry endorsement issued pursuant to sections 571.101 to 571.121 shall not be a criminal act but may subject the person to denial to the premises or removal from the premises. If such person refuses to leave the premises and a peace officer is summoned, such person may be issued a citation for an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars for the first offense. If a second citation for a similar violation occurs within a six-month period, such person shall be fined an amount not to exceed two hundred dollars and his or her endorsement to carry concealed firearms shall be suspended for a period of one year.

Does A-B still do brewery tours? (Sorry, it's been years since I spent any time in St. Louis).
While you're down there, the Sunday brunch at the Lemp Mansion is killer. The arch is definitely worth doing, even if you can't carry. City Museum was cool last time I was there. Shaw Garden is nice. Is Grant's Farm still an option? Maybe the St. Louis types could chime in on whether the food is still good on "The Hill." |
