Ok, gonna finally pull the trigger, and get a suppressor.  Been watching, and reading about suppressors theory, and legal paperwork. Now I need info on where to buy, which to buy, how much to expect to pay. I'm in the St. Louis area. I'm not decided whether to put on existing Buck Mark, or purchase new host. Prefer new host, I really like how Buck Mark looks/shoots as is. A lot depends on how much the suppressor is gonna cost. I would prefer to buy locally, but shipping in is not out of the question, either. Just need the name/location of a local NFA FFL holder. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanx.

Allow me to recommend that you spend $30 on a year's membership at silencerresearch.com.  John has LOTS of good test data and reviews on LOTS of suppressors.  I promise it'll be the best $30 you ever spend on NFA goodies.

I suggest visiting silencertalk.com and doing alot of reading. There are lots of questions you haven't asked yet that could affect what cans you might consider buying...or spending a little more for.
-are you going to shoot .17hmr, .22wmr, or 5.7???     <––-some WILL handle NONE, some will handle some, some will handle all
-are you going to only shoot on a pistol?      <––––––some perform better on rifles, some on pistols
-are you going to shoot alot suppressed?       <––––-a can you can take down for cleaning becomes an essential if shooting as much as some of us do
-how do you intend to clean your silencer?       <––––––certain materials handle the "dip" method very well, other are torn up by it
-are you comparing this new silencer to any other silencer?      <–––– a more inexpensive take down silencer for only a .22 pistol works fine when thats all you're looking for

I went with an AAC Element....not a cheap option....BUT I shoot it on my P22, my .17hmr, a .22 AR, and whatever other .22 or .17 caliber rifle pistol I get my hands on that can be silenced. It takes down pretty easy and can be cleaned in about any fashion you want. I will be buried with this can and have had 2 offers to buy it from me......something you just dont hear about is people buying used silencers!

Buy a Ruger MarkII for your suppressor.

Check out Major-Malfunction.com. Really great guy to deal with, and has great pricing on almost everything. He can be hard to get ahold though since MMM isnt his "real" job. Got my SWR specter from him about 2 years ago and Im looking to get something else this year. Hes got a forum in the industry section check it out.

The best three .22 cans are the AAC Element, SWR Spectre, and the Silencerco Sparrow.

They are all excellent and have their own unique advantages.
