| A friend of a friend supposedly is carrying with a Florida CCW permit which only required him to be 21, rather than 23 like the Missouri one. Since Florida was willing to issue him the permit (they don't require Florida residency) and Missouri recognizes out of state permits everything seems legit. Has anyone heard of anything like this? If there aren't any big holes in this scheme, its a helluva loophole for people under 23. |

No problem carrying on a FL permit in MO at age 21 or as far as that goes you can carry in MO on a ME permit at age 18 and they are both perfectly legal since MO honors all permits from all states and political subdivisions thereof.
Some will argue that a person cannot legally possess a firearm at age 18 in MO but that is not what the law says. You just cannot purchase from a FFL dealer until age 21. A 18 year old can legally posses a firearm. |

Be aware that some states do not recognize non resident permits. I think Colorado is one of these but there are others. Florida is one; I believe Michigan is too. Kansas used to be, but not anymore for non-residents. Also, Nevada does not recognize Florida, nor Utah. |

Just to add to this I have a letter signed by someone in the MO AG office from back in the day when I carried on a FL permit stating it was valid for a MO resident 21+ to carry with a nonresident permit. I carried it in my glove box for a long time even after I got my MO permit. (saved my ass once even)
There are sites that will display a map of states that will honor your permit based on where it's from and the type (resident VS non). I think USA carry has one. |
