[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 2011 CMMG Matches (Page 1 of 2)

| Does CMMG have a schedule posted for 2011 matches? I want to get in on some more of the action this year. |
|
Sweet! I just finished my new 3-Gun build. Now to develop a load for it before that first match!
I am also curious to see how it all works out. I shoot USPSA as well as 3 Gun, so I am looking forward to some extra classifiers to shoot this year. (I'm still unclassified! Sigh.....) |

CMMG is an outlaw match, they dont use the USPSA rules or scoring. They dont do a pistol match then a side 3 gun match like other ranges around the area. They will do likely 4-6 stages for $5 per stage, shoot them as many times as you want, time allowing. Its a really good way to practice, or try different things on the same stages.

That means Rules, Scores, etc. Now, about the only thing I am fuzzy on is if the 3-Gun stages will be Outlaw or rules like the Big Match (basically DPMS rules) or if they are going to run full on USPSA 3-Gun Rules as well. But, it definitely sounds like the pistol stages will be Fully Sanctioned USPSA matches. Which I am looking forward to with schoolgirl like glee, and personally hope the 3-gun stages follow suit. |

Last October they said they were going to begin shooting USPSA matches the third Saturday of every month, starting February. They will have classifier stages. I don't recall how he said 3gun will be incorporated, only that it will be. If I understood correctly, these will be sanctioned and scored matches, for pistol anyway. Boomfab, for a more solid answer, get ahold of Ken Flood, I think he is spearheading this.
Edit-ARinKCMO beat me to it. |

Soooo, big field courses with plenty of shooting-on-the-move? Death to shooting boxes! ![]() |

If they host a Pistol only match, or stages (read: classifiers) it will be by USPSA rules. The 3 Gun matches will be a time plus scoring system. I never said they wouldnt keep score, I just said they wouldnt use the USPSA multigun rules. It will be like your local monthly club matches. You will be scored, within the division you shoot. Regardless they will still be fun matches.

The matches will be 4 stages of USPSA with at least 1 classifier per month and a special 4 classifier in April. At the same time we will have 3 stages of multigun and all scores will be recorded. Cost is $15 to shoot USPSA and $25 to shoot both. We will run people in the same classes as the outlaw matches so Tac Ops, Tac Iron, Heavy Metal, Heavy Tac Ops, and Open. Again, rules will be outlaw, not USPSA Multigun.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Ken Flood |

For us NOOBs... I need an address. Checked the Black Rifle site. I want to at least come, watch and try to figure this competition thing out. At some point you might even get a chance for me to show you how bad a really shoot.

So, give us a run down of how they are running pistol-only USPSA and 3 Gun at the same time. Do they have a few bays dedicated to each discipline, and a shooter signs up for one, shoots it, then shoots the other? Or does the shooter have to run back and forth between 'sports' switching out gear and such? Also, to anyone one who shot both, what was your time investment for the day?
(I was at the range today, chrono'ing loads in both my rifle and handgun, getting ready for March and beyond!) |

It had to be the most efficient shoot I have been too!
Started shooting at 10 am sharp and were totally done at 1:30ish shooting 3 gun and pistol! Granted there were only 14 shooters but it just ran smooth. Here was the setup: You could sign up for pistol, 3 gun, or both. there were 4 different stages setup. 1 was pistol only. 3 were able to be shot as pistol or 3 gun. First everyone shot 3 gun in our squad, then anyone shooting both went back through and shot the pistol portion. Obviously the 3 gun added in shotgun (smal round steel fall over targets) and 100-175 yard rifle targets which were not shot with the pistol stages. Shooting through holes, on a wobbly stand, and a little bit of movement added in lots of fun! So basically I shot 7 stages in 3.5 hours! It was steel only (no paper targets to score or paste which takes TIME) and the long range steel was auto reset. I think the steel is the way to go. I'm thinking when more people start showing up it won't run quite so quick but I was very impressed. It ran perefectly and I really appriaiate CMMG and all the RO's for putting it on. Thanks again for a great day guys! That was a lot of shooting and not a lot of waiting! |

I went to the match to observe for future participation. Kept my mouth shut and eyes open hoping to learn a few things. I can't wait to get out and give it a try. Should I be referencing the rules at http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-rules.php for 3 gun AND pistol? Primarily trying to figure out how scoring works so I can understand priority between accuracy, speed, etc. I signed up for the AR15.com/Rockcastle event in August, so I need to get moving! |

I think I must have been standing next to mbowler during the day. I think we talked about reloading.....
Anyway, I traded a muzzle loader for a slug barrel for my Rem. 1100 and an extended magazine. Now to get the AR finished and I am in for some fun. I won't burn up the world, but that looked like a blast! Everyone was friendly and helpful to me! I really appreciate it! Look forward to seeing everyone in the future! Joe |

Assulter...
Slug barrel with chokes is for multiple uses. Home defense = Slugs or Double OO 1. Fun 2. Food 3. more Fun. Other than that, no real good reason. The closest I could come to a decent semi auto express was about $500.... This total ended up being $150. (Kept the wife off my back for bringing home another gun. Just one thing at a time.... |
