Ok, I was skeptical when I heard about this. I am a die hard John Wayne fan. But I gotta say, the remake looks awesome!

I am hopeful for the best. And will welcome a new take on this classic. The films these brother's have made so far are good. Well at risk I have to say this, this VERSION not a REMAKE is supposed to follow the BOOK unlike the John Wayne version. From the previews I have seen it looks passable you just have to not compare it to the JW version. |

I think the new version looks really good. John Wayne is an icon but he was a terrible actor. The choice of "Glen Campbell" as LeBeouf was not terribly well thought out either! He was popular at the time, Kim Darby was not exactly an oscar winner either! I think this version will suprise some folks. Supposedly it sticks more to the book. |

I'll let you look at my screen name and guess how much I like John Wayne.
I'm a big fan of the Cohen Bros. I'm also a big fan of movies based on books. I'll be in line the first week that it's out. For those who would bring John Wayne's acting talent into question I would remind you that he was nominated for best actor twice and won it for True Grit (The Conquerer notwithstanding). |

How about the Duke as a "Singing Cowboy" in the Three Mesquiteers? |

Ok, I saw it tonite. I'll start by saying that the original is one of my favorites. This was a very good movie, not as good as the original but very good. The 2010 True Grit sticks closer to the book with the plot and you will notice the differences from the 1969 version. Even with the plot changes this movie really tries to stick to the first movie fairly well. I was really on the fence about Bridges trying to fill Waynes shoes in his only Oscar performance out of 171 movie appearances. I feel like he did a pretty good job of trying to be the John Wayne version of Cogburn, Bridges didn't try to make it his own role. I can't stand Matt Damon due to his political views but he was good as the Texas Ranger Le Boeuf. Since the movie stuck to the original plot Josh Brolin as Chaney had a pretty short appearance, as did Barry Pepper as "Lucky" Ned Pepper. The famous mounted charge scene at the end of the flick is just as good as the original. Go see it..... |

Wow... I hope the person posting up the line is right... I don't care for either actor overall.
There were several better actors that could have been picked. I will see it because I love westerns. For the most part..... Blasphemy is the correct term. Nobody is gonna do Rooster like The Duke! |
