Springfield GI models owned by two fine men serving their country.  Junior had been bragging me up long before I went down for this visit. Had a good time on range shooting and when fun was done they put me to task........

This one Sergeant Fil bought used.... Paid $ 480.00 and bought some where around $375.00 in parts. Here's the parts list....
Ed Brown Hard Core Extractor
Wilson Combat semi-drop in grip safety
Wilson Speed Chute magwell
Ed Brown extended mag release
Wilson trigger
Wilson main spring housing
C&S drop in ignition kit
Rosewood grips

This is a Dad hand me down. The best kind....Installed new sear and stoned it as well trimmed hammer hooks and stoned both with Ruby stone. Each weapon had 3.5 pound trigger when done. Installed grip tape on front strap of both and cut grips to blend tape.

Sergeant Fil's pistol goes to Perkins Custom for Heinie dovetails to be cut, sights installed, front serrations cut and finish applied.. Not sure whether it's being blued or re-parked and Duracoated.
Second pistol got trigger work and both had feed ramps, barrel throats polished.
On Fil's pistol most 1911owners could do the work themselves. Pretty easy stuff really. Trigger work as done on second pistol is time aquired skill set and healthy investment in stones, files and jigs.

If I were into 1911's, those workhorses are what I'd want.

These guys are deploying to Iraq next year. It was Afghanistan, now Iraq. Typical government indecision. Anyway.. Fil didn't like the way it fit either, but.... that's drop in for you. I get one if not both.... Actually 3 back during their deployment including a Colt. Will fit Wilson or Brown safeties and blend to frame. I was limited by tools and time while there.

Thanks... they were grinning from the crack of their ass to the top of their ears when done. Refused money for services as I always do. Expressions on faces were payment enough.

You do very nice work. Perkins does very nice work also. These guns would be ones I would be proud to own.

Oh man those look sweet.  I'm eyeing my GI now, been wanting to get some work done on it for awhile now. Thanks!
